understood. Bars are a breeding ground for this virus though. It sucks but I really cant disagree with closing bars. If I were an owner, I'd be fighting for the opposite. If I worked at a bar, I'd look elsewhere.

I mean, at this point, who would not be ok with this?

Me & I don’t go to bars & not a big drinker

The more we close places down / delay reopening means the more it hurts owners & employees that want to work

The fed unemployment benefit is set to expire 7/31
If states keep shutting down or stay in a barely open phase the money will be extended
If people were forced into going back to work I think the “protests” would slow down

And not one question will be asked regarding:

1. the sudden rise in cases being linked to huge protests in NOLA and BR

2. the lack of overrun hospitals despite increased testing and positive cases i.e. the curve being not flattened but absolutely squashed.

Journalism isn't in the toilet. It was in the toilet, it was flushed, went through sewage processing plant and is not presented to you as clean again.

I heard there was a meeting last nite and he was shutting it down again which i dont believe. But i believe masks will be mandatory and possible back to Phase 1.

Theres already police chiefs in Texas that are saying they wont enforce masks and i think the same would happen here.

Journalism is nothing now but a PR machine for liberals. It is liberals reporting on news and if a liberal politician says something, there’s no reason to question it. If a conservative says it, it’s automatically wrong and it’s time to question away.

It's not even bars in general, it's the bars that border on being night clubs that are having the issue WRT case counts. Luckily these places aren't frequented by many in the vulnerable groups.

"Kids, go out, have a good time, DO NOT VISIT GRANDMA!" should be the message.

The corner pubs in small towns shouldn't re-close just because Tigerland can't keep 100 kids from grinding on each other.

This stupid shite is said weekly
1. We were never “shut down”
2. We are currently at 5.7% positive
3. JBE is not shutting anything down or going backwards without major backlash

This is a weekly press conference, he will bitch & might try to force masks but we are not going backwards, no one will listen. People aren’t going to pull kids from camp / travel ball, casinos are not going to reduce capacity & small businesses will not close without a fight.
Trump has already threatened to withhold federal funding from states that don’t open schools, JBE is going to do what benefits his pockets, meaning keep local, state & federal tax dollars coming in.

He may not technically go back to phase 1 (even though I think it's likely at some point), but he'll implement restrictions that pretty much reflect phase 1. Really one in the same. Bars are about to get fricked. Mask mandate is becoming more likely even though he's been hesitant to do it statewide (while applauding mayors who implement it locally).

My prediction: He makes the threat today, and by Friday announces the new restrictions after 'a deep dive' into the numbers. This is the exact playbook he's been following since the start.

From everything I’ve seen online the death rate is down to 0.04% nationally. Somebody can check on that. I just did the math with how many cases and deaths along with checked a couple websites but some were a few weeks old. I believe flu death rate runs 0.02-.04%

My math and websites could be wrong, more than likely my math is wrong.

“Deaths in children with laboratory-confirmed influenza virus infection are reportable in the United States and 183 deaths were reported for the 2017–2018 season. However, influenza-associated pediatric deaths are likely under-reported as not all children whose death was related to an influenza virus infection may have been tested for influenza (7, 8). Therefore, we used a mathematical model to estimate the total number of pediatric deaths based on hospitalization rates and the frequency of death in and out of the hospital from death certificates, estimating that there were more than 600 deaths associated with influenza in children.“ CDC

My great aunt I mentioned earlier never had a flu test, we were just told she had a cold or flu like virus and caught pneumonia. CDC “estimates” deaths because so many times people are septic they don’t get tested or it’s too late to test them, they may have pneumonia but would no longer test positive for flu. Whereas COVID, everybody is being tested that goes into a hospital sick

They literally did.
There were patients being treated on the floor.

The difference today is that there are promising therapeutics and many of the elderly vulnerable are unfortunately dead.

The entire exercise now is designed to keep our medical infrastructure running efficiently so we aren’t overwhelmed again in the fall when other respiratory illnesses kick up.
