either do a complete shutdown, or no shutdown.

What does this mean? No doctors? No police? No firefighters?

So the virus is so bad that schools have the option to stay in phase 3?

It is also being conflated with the FLU

I'm not 100% sure this isn't what is giving us the bulk of our number for this "long, hard winter".

And no one will listen or care what he says no more than 10.

Everyone knows this. The government knows this. Health officials know this. We all know that the vast majority of the spread happens at private gatherings with family/friends.

All these restrictions on businesses are simply a "doing something" facade.

Between this and the lack of flu cases when it should be ramping up and so far very few people have gotten the flu vaccine, it all truly feels like bullshite. And it's starting to wake up people who didn't see it as bullshite 8 months ago.

Then just stop the shutdowns altogether. Partial closings and capacity lowerings are not going to help. People will just gather in other ways.

Exactly. The total shutdown crap hasn't worked in other states that had tried to basically do it and in other countries that did total shutdown.

We can't fricking crash our economy even further to save so few lives.

JBE can lecture all he wants. Nobody is changing their behavior no matter what "phase" he put us in.

Nobody that has been taking it super seriously is going to stop.

And conversely, nobody who has been going on about their life as much as possible is going to start taking it super seriously.

If anything, the group that is taking it super seriously is going to keep dwindling the longer this goes on.

It's killing more people than it's saving. ODs, suicides, poverty are all going to be bigger killers than this could ever be considering the people this kills are generally old and would have died within the last year from some other cause. Not to say that some people wouldn't have. Just that that number is so damn low. Pools are more dangerous for people under 45 than covid has ever been.

My life hasn’t changed much with these phases but it has fricked my kids senior year. I’m so over this shite. She has hated her school year so far because everything she should be able to enjoy has been taken away by some cold virus. It started with no junior prom and she has missed senior dance camp, band camp, dancing on the field for football games, senior night for sports, making all stars for dance and having the opportunity to go to Italy and dance, ring ceremony where her mom and dad could go, homecoming dance and if this keeps going no dance nationals in Orlando, no prom or graduation. I feel terrible for her.

I really don't get how people say this. Did you have zero social life prior to covid?

I'm the host of this party, pal. I got my arse chewed in the covid thread when all these shutdowns started in march and about how pointless and dangerous they were. This all started on March 13th when an NBA game was cancelled because one guy had it and then all hell broke loose and you had mayors and governors crawling over one another to virtue signal harder and shutdown for longer. All during a period where the numbers were way "lower" than they are now. That knee jerk reaction set the standard and caused us to be where we are today... with not a single leader being brave enough to act rationally.

Yeah. I feel terrible for the kids. Missing out on so much.

My 7 year old just did their big school play, except no one was allowed to watch it. They put it on a DVD and we had to buy it for $20.

The entire point of the school play is for the kids to perform in front of their parents. Its all so goddamn dumb.

Honestly not really. I had a new born a few months before the lockdown so I was staying home a good bit anyway.

So eating in parking lots in the cold and rain? Waiters, waitresses, hostesses, bartenders, some cooks/chefs are now unemployed?

That's terrible. My son just turned 7 and at least they had their Veterans day parade streamed online.
