That’s pretty impressive they were able to find out he had an Airbnb so quickly. You’re talking about a mere hours after the 3am truck attack.

So all they have is his license plate to go on bc he’s dead. To backtrack all that so fast was incredible to me.

Meanwhile, days after one unhinged Muslim attack, President Potato decides to give America one last “frick you” before leaving office.

how many tens of billions of dollars do y'all think it's gonna cost us to track them down again in 3 months when they're connected to another attack against us????

The truck was a Turo rental and not his.

FBI is the shite. I bought something off of ebay quite a few years ago for a friend who didn't have an account. Turns out it was stolen and I had moved back home to Louisiana. Apparently the seller was using ebay as a front for stolen goods. I got a call at work (new job) from FBI about my purchase. Since I got it for him and he paid me for it, I gave the FBI his name and phone number.

They tracked buyer info down very quickly.

Scary fast.

House didn't burn down. Fire was started in a linen closet and didn't have enough oxygen. It fizzled out before NOFD got there.

The guy could not have been that smart, we got lucky. How hard is it to burn a house down with gasoline? I've never tried so maybe I'm just ignorant, I know that drywall doesn't burn that well, but it looks like they have video of him with a gallon of gas, I have to assume that's plenty to really get it going?

Just why? What was his reasoning for this? (I realize he's probably not able to reason.)

He was smart enough. Got a degree in computer science.

Bought meta glasses so he could record Bourbon Street without suspicion and study the recording to develop his plan.

Regarding the fire, the door to the linen closet could have closed when he opened the front door. I live in a 60 year old house and have had the open back door shut when I opened the front door. Terrorist poured gasoline around the house to accelerate the flames but fire fizzled out.

These guys weren't just "released" but sent to Oman in a deal where they supposedly monitor their activity, like parole. Probably not effective but still not precisely "released"

The logic to emptying Guantanamo is mainly:

1) I'm sure the assholes being turned over to Oman were Al Queda members but ones caught without a precise crime that the US wants to prosecute. It's a slippery slope to simply imprison people for their political affiliation without charging them with a crime.

It's certainly not consistent with our constitution and many Americans value the constitution and realize its strength lies in the most difficult and controversial applications.

2) The US has tried forever to cleanse their hands of Guantanamo by getting allies with closer diplomatic relations like Oman to take these people that aren't charged with any specific crime.

Who knows if it's the worse option or not but there's certainly not any perfect solution here.

New'ish update:

HOUSTON – FBI officials along with deputies from the Sheriff’s Office were investigating a storage unit in northwest Harris County Monday night.

Several law enforcement officials were seen in and out of at least one storage unit at SpareBox Storage on Walters Road.

FBI officials would not detail what they were trying to uncover in the storage unit and initially wouldn’t tell us more, but later confirmed the heavy law enforcement activity was related to the attack in New Orleans.

Here’s the FBI’s complete (updated) statement:

“I can confirm that FBI Houston and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office were present at the 11900 block of Walters Rd last night conducting court-authorized law enforcement activity related to the Bourbon Street attack.

FBI Houston cleared that location at approximately midnight. There was, and is, no threat to public safety at this time in relation to that activity.”

Wonder if they found anything of interest

Biden, like millions of other leftists, really and truly hates the country and more importantly, hates white conservatives and Christians. This is another frick you to them.

Hopefully they found useful stuff there. There is zero chance nobody else knew this attack was being planned. Now whether that other individual or individuals are inside the United States or elsewhere is another question but I refuse to believe that trip to Egypt was innocent. Then Canada too? This guy was a loner and separated from his family, those weren't leisure trips. He was meeting with people who were radicalizing him and/or enticing him to do this.

He tried to set a progressive fire. Starting with something small and it was intended to grow gradually over an hour or so.

Now, I have no idea why he didn't just light the fricker up. He went straight to the Quarter, so it's not like it would've interrupted his plans.

I know this has been said and it's difficult to come to terms with....but this guy was an idiot. Rationalizing it like he's some character from a James Bond movie never works.

More than that, I think he was completely separated from reality. He had lost his mind...on top of not being super bright.

I'm agreeing with you.

The way he overengineered everything to a point of failure reminds me of my little kids setting elaborate "boobie traps" that rarely work.

I'm sure they're doing that to an extent right now but thankfully in two weeks Trump becomes president. I'm confident he's gonna make sure they watch them like a hawk.
