It’s amazing to think that less than 100 years ago we didn’t actually realize there was anything more to the universe than the Milky Way.

Hubble's work with extra-galactic Cepheid variables is to me one of the most compelling arguments for a posthumous Nobel.

And showing expansion/acceleration via redshift. Not only did he discover the rest of the frickin universe he turned physics on its head and showed that it’s growing. He didn’t get a Nobel but was definitely somewhat of a celebrity back in the day. Not as big as Einstein but well known.

For anyone interested here’s a two part BBC documentary related to it and goes over the the discovery. I think it may be on Amazon prime too. Well made and definitely worth a watch if interested in astronomy / astrophysics / and such

They have awarded a Noble for work that had not yet been accomplished (Obama), so doesn't seem like much of a reach to award one posthumously.

Definitely one of those let me recheck my work moments. The redshift meant Einstein’s cosmological constant which was basically thrown in to fudge the equations and hold the universe together was incorrect and unneeded. Einstein considered it his greatest mistake, so if he never would have added it would have predicted the expansion that Hubble proved.

If God did not create the universe including the earth, then where did the first particle come from? Matter can not create itself.
Something can not come from nothing. Name one thing that came from nothing.

Quantum mechanics is weird (really, really weird) and allows for particles to pop in and out of existence all the time, so something from nothing (although spacetime isnt really nothing I guess). That’s not the Big Bang admittedly.
