While unfortunate, this is terrible. I work for a biotech startup and like data, any key strains you should have stored at multiple locations. We have strains stored in three different locations in two cities 2000 miles apart.

thety will lose this case, the alarms said it wasnt working and that ruined everything.

they would have to prove the freezer was fully working normal when he shut it off. the alarms are there to say it wasnt cooling so he isnt responsible for the damage.

was he wrong, 100%

can they prove his actions caused the damage and not the freezer that wasnt working properly to start with, nope

Even the crew on Apollo 13 ad hoc figured this out...

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute employs and entrusted dummies to secure their work.

Why would it not be hardwired and/or have a battery backup? It sounds like it’s sitting there like my freezer in my garage.

knew a guy who was a DNA researcher at Tulane, had a large number of samples stored in a temperature-controlled facility on campus with multiple redundancies to maintain power under virtually every possible circumstance

he ended up moving to Duke in 2005, where he had to start over from scratch
