You should file a class action. As lead plaintiff, you will get $4.75 and a gift certificate for a bottle of Bayer aspirins. The lawyers will get the other $400 million.

Switch that bottle of aspirin to a gram of blonde hash and it's a deal.

This is a huge problem as well. It's almost as if the government and lawyers take care of each other.

Think of the research $500M could fund and how quickly the state will piss it away.

The majority of that money will be going to Oklahoma State Health Sciences Center to fund an addiction center and a fellowship program for psychiatrists going into addiction medicine subspecialty. It's a field in the US that is rapidly expanding.

There's a lot of dumb on this board regarding this topic. Just because you have crooked politics in Louisiana does not mean every state government fricks up when granted money to fund addiction medicine.

The propaganda they pushed cost the lives of many, many people in those states. They deserve every penny from opioid producers to reverse addiction/death rates due to the drugs.

Bankruptcy

And I would laugh if JaJ reaffirmed all bond and loan debt but let the judgement collapse under bkr protection.

The opioid crisis is everyone’s fault. Big pharma for pushing it for so long, docs for prescribing and taking their cut, and the addicts for being addicts.

Yes! As long as they can throw money at their problems, it's business as usual for them. The reward has already been achieved with no risk of jail.

There is zero credible evidence that GMO’s carry health risks.

We put bright young minds in a heap of student debt to become a productive member of society and fund institutions for people who don't care to help themselves.

This incorrect all the way around. You're twisting things completely.

First of all, yes, it's complete bullshite what college has become.

However, "we" aren't funding treatment at all. The company will be funding it from their funds that they made by knowingly lying to the public and the government.

And finally, you have no idea if addicts want treatment or not. Some do, some don't. Some do and still can't stay clean for a multitude of reasons.

Object all you want, but at least get the facts straight when you do so.

NY Times

quote:

“The critical finding is that Johnson & Johnson engaged in false, deceptive and misleading marketing,” said Abbe R. Gluck, who teaches health policy and law at Yale Law School.

From 2000 through 2011, members of Johnson & Johnson’s sales staff made some 150,000 visits to Oklahoma doctors, focusing in particular on high-volume prescribers, the state said. In addition, the pharmaceutical giant supplied most of the nation’s opioid material to other drug manufacturers, refined by one of its companies from a variety of poppy that Johnson & Johnson developed and grew in Tasmania.

They got off extremely light.
