We have an entire branch of government regulating the industry and it’s a controlled substance.

Mind blowing that we have progressed so far as a society that we take those responsible for modern medicine and fine them to pay for treatment for a bunch of addicts.

Do we though? If it's really regulated how did this happen? And why did they purposefully try to downplay the addictive qualities of the controlled substance?

You can hate on addicts all you want, but you can't whitewash this away.

urdue Pharma is already involved in a lawsuit in Kentucky for pushing opioids. shite they declared bankruptcy because the family KNOWS they are fricked.
they've only discussed bankruptcy. they have not declared it, and it's not bc they need to do so. It would only be to manipulate the system. It's all just posturing. It doesn't mean what you think it means.

Probably. The way they did it was smart. Force the smaller companies to settle, then go after the big dog.

The whole thing is pathetic and when lawyers get involved, we all lose.

Think of the research $500M could fund and how quickly the state will piss it away.

I think some of this is warranted but big pharma is taking the brunt of what should fall on some of the doctors that were heavy, irresponsible prescribers, such as the pill mill docs.

Edited because what I was trying to say is that I am for open markets and big pharm is filling a market demand with their drugs and there is nothing wrong with that.

Except drug patents are the opposite of an “open market.” Frick big pharma

Well, this is just the start. By the time it's over, every state will be looking for a hand out.

Pretty soon you fat bastards won't have any medicines left to take. No more Levaquin, save a few million lives as front line pneumonia drug, but caused a few hundred tendon ruptures, Billion dollar award! No more Nexium, saved a hundred million people from heartburn, but causes Rickets, Billion dollar award! No more fentanyl, been helping hundred of thousand late stage cancer patients manage the end of their life, but junkies a abuse it, Billion dollar award!

The list goes on and on and every drug is subject to it. And you all complain about drug prices.

You should file a class action. As lead plaintiff, you will get $4.75 and a gift certificate for a bottle of Bayer aspirins. The lawyers will get the other $400 million.

Give me a few million in a settlement and 90% of that goes away upon hearing the news. And when I need something, I'd buy from canada.
