No problem for me because I vote against ALL taxes. We have the money - it’s just being mismanaged (see COA).

It’s bids tomorrow for the LADOTD.

1.2 million dollars divided amongst other politicians, ministers, Silky Slim, and Sterling banterers.

The dumb voters passed COA. You should lead an effort to kill the COA tax when it comes up for renewal. I’ll be right there with you opposing it.
Voting against the roads tax is not the way to go to vent your frustration on other issues.

Are you for "enhancements"?
50 million for faux synchronization?
Do you like how they don't rank projects and tell us what are the priorities?
Will GL projects be completed?
People see road improvements and jump on board. I taxes and look for a plan and accountability.

Did you attend the public meeting to gain more information and ask questions? I did.

Not this one.
Did you find out what enhancements Broome wants? Did you learn who they were going to hire to do the synchronizing? Did they set a priority for the projects? Anything important that you would like to share?

not an attorney, but if it takes this long to do title research for a sidewalk, I don't know how they could build Burbank so fast.
They usually do the title work 3-5 years before they break ground

Installing a sidewalk requires closing in the ditches, which requires subsurface drainage. Because of this, you have to factor in clearance under driveways, utility relocations, servitude attainment, etc.. add in DOTD's ridiculous review process and you've got a lot more than just throwing 4 inches of concrete on top of existing ground.

Did you find out what enhancements Broome wants? There was a handout that was distributed.
Did you learn who they were going to hire to do the synchronizing? Of course not, that needs to go out for bid once the tax passes.
Did they set a priority for the projects? They mentioned Old Hammond Hwy and Pecue projects. Additional public meetings will be held to discuss each individual project before construction work starts.
Anything important that you would like to share? Not that I can think of but it is clear that Raiford is totally in charge and the Mayor is following his recommendations.

He must be referencing the projects where they’ll add sidewalks and drainage.

When you pass through that neighborhood on a school day and see all the children out there waiting on buses in the weeds, next to ditches and mud puddles you have to realize that our govt. can't provide them with a sidewalk even though the money is there,

The city-parish just received the cooperative endeavor agreement from the state and will go to council for approval by end of April. Once signed and forwarded back to the DOTD, then the bid for the work should follow. Once bids are received from DOTD and reviewed, they will forward them to us for the council to accept and approve the low bidder.
It's a fricking sidewalk.

That's what I don't like, millions of dollars in discretionary spending. 40 million dollars for future sidewalks, multi/use paths, lighting, drainage and landscaping and the mayor determines what and where.

Another 10 million for ADA compliance projects. Again no mention of where.
Total 50 million dollars. Another 10 million dedicated to specific enhancements. That's 60 million not going to concrete projects.

Yes, the construction work does, but the engineering and planning doesn't. These guys get "selected".
In the plan I see 40 million for synchronization and another 204 million for " "increased mobility including signal synchronization, sidewalks, and cycling paths."That's roughly 244 million dollars.
Add that to "enhancements" and almost thirty percent of the plan is not for new roads or widening streets.

Shouldn't projects in GL 1 come first? They were voted on and passed but never completed. Maybe they will set some priorities.

I have faith in Fred, but he retired once already. He won't be here forever.
But who will the mayor tap from the private sector to run the program? That's s big political plum. Watch to see who Broome picks.
Thxs for the feedback.

The ignorance in threads like these is astounding.
“Why do poor people need sidewalks?”
Lol the same people also probably complain about heath costs, Medicaid, traffic, ER utilization, obesity, education outcomes etc that could all be linked to something as simple as a sidewalk. Have y’all ever even driven in this area? There is literally a path that is worn into the ground from where people are constantly walking. The sidewalk should have been built 20 years ago or earlier.
Laugh at the incompetence of our government (it really can be funny but oh how sad it is) but taking care of basic needs like sidewalks is essential to bettering communities.

Man I bet EBR Parish Council hasn't even cleaned out their break room fridge since 2015. Yall really expect a vote they cast in 2015 to be followed up on in 2018?
