Do you really think .gov will ignore all of the weather satellites out there. If, and that's a huge if, NOAA is stood down, some other entity will disseminate the data from the satellites, most likely the military. Do you think maybe they have an interest in the weather?

OT tigerdroppings can take over all forecasting for hurricanes
what could go wrong?

James Spann is a solid weather guy but I disagree with this.
I could see cutting 30% of NOAA and not even touching weather service stuff... NOAA does EVERYTHING related to outdoors stuff. They have tons of aircraft for surveying, tons of watercraft for biology stuff, they're bloated and could use the same treatment as all other agencies at their level. I know they pay states for enforcement of offshore fisheries enforcement...

They get their data from the NOAA. I love what Levi does but AFAIK he doesn't have a supercomputer in his basement.
Doesn’t he work for the NWS?

I’m sure the actual meteorologists will be just fine. It’s the climate change hawks and DEI departments that will get the ax.

I vote they can keep their funding if they admit to cooking the numbers to make climate change look real. Stop getting your official temperature readings on concrete islands.
Everything else they do is great

What will we do without the inaccurate hurricane forecasts?
Posted on 2/26/25 at 1:57 pm to Stexas
NOAA should cut all their other bullshite such as pretending Red Snapper is endangered.

Either post some actual facts, quotes from the administration or get the frick out of here with your gaslighting and fear mongering. Not much verifiable in the article

People will bitch and moan about this risking lives due to damaging severe weather alert capabilities but NWS is a shell of its former self. They’re more focused on community outreach and social media these days compared to simply forecasting and warning in the past. You won’t notice a difference.

Immediate 33% cut to NOAA
That’s a higher percentage than them getting a forecast right

Did they change the name to the polio board because all those science deniers didn’t get vaccinated and caught it?

It should be:
100%-prediction accuracy rate= percent of budget cut
100%-prediction accuracy rate= percent of budget cut

I get what Spann is saying, but NOAA and the NWS have not been immune to the craziness of progressivism in the federal government over the past decade. NOAA has become an outpost for climate change propaganda. My local NWSFO sometimes posts literal gay stuff on their Facebook page. It is bizarre. They really needed to stick to weather.
