What's a high dollar murder defense go for these days? $250,000.00?
Really depends on a lot of things. Just through trial or until all appeals are done? Is there going to be a lot of experts your going to have to hire for trial? You can honestly spend as much as you want though. You can get second opinions on every analysis of physical evidence the State collected (ballistics/DNA/etc.) but of course, you pay for it.
50-100K is a good number for trial depending on the experts/tests that are required.

immnot going to jump all down that rabbit hole... there isn't a single word about a knife any any of the stories I've read yet. No reason to start throwing that around.... if anything bring up whatever brick or rock he was using to break the Lexus window.
I'm just saying, such details get left out of a grand jury proceeding but will come out at trial. How many career criminals do you know of that wander around routinely without some sort of knife or gun on them? Just guessing at the odds here.

I know a guy who spent $500,000 on lawyers for a divorce.

Provide link to statute.

That's just dumb. Not saying the guy he hired wasn't good, and I obviously know nothing of his divorce, but I'd be willing to bet he could have gotten the same outcome with a handful of competent, experienced lawyers for a fraction of the cost.

Except that a jury from Jackson won't exactly be "peers" of law-abiding tax payers.
And even if he is acquitted, his life is basically ruined.
Understand your point. However, I do believe the jury pool will be a cross section of the citizens of the 1st Judicial District of the County. Not everyone lives in Section 8 housing in the district.

I'd love for you find the me the MS statute on this and educate me.

I'm sure the state legislature, the mayor, and the city council all made sure before anything else, to make sure the public defenders office is adequately funded right? I mean all of these young urban youths being targeted time after time unjustly, I'm sure they want these offenders in Jackson to get fair counsel before getting thrown away..... so Mr Wayne should have a bang-up team working his case with war chest.

There is a struggle and both men are apparently fighting over the gun. McDonald crumples to the ground when shots are fired as the rounds struck him in the upper torso.
One f'd up jury to convict this man.

looks like a clear fight for the gun

agreed...it is really shitty how fast you can lose everything that matters in life. 30 seconds before that happened, he was probably just wondering what he would have for lunch or some other normal shite. now, there is absolutely no way he can come out without being ruined at best.

The man's hourly rate was crazy. I agree with you 100%. People feel like they have to have "the best" though when it comes to these things, try to protect themselves from getting screwed by other people..but in the process, end up screwing themselves over.

I actually interned in that office quite some time ago. The legislature sets the funding of all PD's in the state. There is actually only two full time PD offices in the state (Hinds Co. and somewhere on the coast). It was a pretty shitty building they were in, but the attorneys were actually very dedicated and from what I saw pretty good. Personally, I'd hire private, but mainly because I wouldn't be one of 300 cases on my attorneys plate. Contrary to popular belief, PDs aren't all bad attorneys, in fact, one of the best I've been around is a PD. They just don't have the time to spend on your case as a private attorney will.

Seriously. Even if he got 100K less than he did in the settlement by going with a cheaper attorney, if that attorney only charged 250K (which is still ridiculous for a divorce for the average person) he would have actually gotten 150K more in his pocket.

Indicted, not convicted.
A grand jury is only allowed to hear the prosecution's side.

And it's only a finding of PC which is a far cry from reasonable doubt.

I'm piecing this together slowely but surely the best way I can.... I don't get what you are implying.
I hope you don't think it's cut and dry and we have all the facts are you.
I'm trying to not jump to any conclusion although I've stated early and often I have a bias and i know the character of only one individual involved so I'm relying a bit on that as well.
