’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

“Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!”

He took his vorpal sword in hand;
Long time the manxome foe he sought—
So rested he by the Tumtum tree
And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

“And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!”
He chortled in his joy.

’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

My Pops would quote it from memory as a bedtime story for us as little ones.

Fortunately, we weren’t from Arkansas so there was no sex.

I've gotten posts whacked because I've used made up words.

Like booniegoo.

I ask you...how can it be wrong if its made up?

The Books made great use of it in this song, worth a listen (or several): LINK

Studied this in college, and committed it to memory. Just last week, I recited it aloud to kill time while driving, 35 years later.

I haven’t , do they use it in there? I’ve heard they did a choose your own adventure story too which sounds neat.

The Louisiana all-state choir sang it this year. Very interesting an entertaining.

Anyone remember circa 1985 when CBS did Alice in Wonderland as a 4 part mini series? Ringo Starr, Sherman Hemsley, Etc. Were part of it. And that show got VERY dark when the Jabberwocky appeared. As an 8 year old, I had many nightmares.

I read this in the early '70's after reading a snippet in Richard Hooker's M*A*S*H.

He's a decent enough actor I guess.
