I’ve heard you can make Entergy re-install your old meter for $15 a month

Anyone have any experience with this? I don’t trust the new meters that can be remotely controlled.

How much has inflation impacted tin foil these days?

They’re not controlling it, just reading it remotely. And it’s more accurate. For some people that meant higher billers, lower for others.

I guess if you don’t pay, they can remotely disconnect your shite.

Why would you even consider giving those crooks an additional $15/month?

There's no reason to change your meter out. That's not the issue. Everybody's bills this summer have been fricking ridiculously high.

It's Entergy being greedy is the problem. And anybody who holds an official position in Louisiana who could actually do something about it doesn't give two shits about it. So we're all fricked (as usual) due to having corrupt politicians.

They're still going to put a revenue grade meter on, so nothing is going to change except they'll charge you for the pain in the arse.

If the new meter means $50 more a month on a bill, $15 would be a bargain.

There are thermostats in California that can be remotely changed. Why do you think it’s out of the realm of possibility for an electric company to do the same

Texas changed thermostats

People used to say the idea of smart devices being able to spy on you was a conspiracy. That is, until they found out they can!

No, it’s the LPSC that rubber stamps every increase presented to them by these companies

It’s the LPSC that’s worthless.

It won't. They aren't going to install an old shitty meter. They're just going to put a non cell enabled unit on that's still revenue grade.

They read and can hit a remote disconnect, that's it.

That too. Probably because they receive some kind of benefit (under the table) in return.

And then they want to insult us by preaching that we should be more conscious of how we use our A/C and to turn it up to 80 degrees.

I had to pay a record bill for service in June like everyone else.

Here’s my take; three major canes hit testing up all the infrastructure. The power companies had to r’m react immediately. People demand power.

I saw hundreds of bucket trucks mobilized to do that. Those men have to be paid. They have to be fed and sheltered. Overtime had to be paid. We have to have power.

Natural gas prices shot up. June was hit as hell. It was the worst case scenario.

Now did the PSC protect our interests? Did they give Entergy a fair profit and no more? I don’t know, but that’s their job. But they live in La. andI know what goes on. I know the meeting they had the other day was a sham. It was done to tell folks the PSC cares but rates were already set and approved months ago.

There is no free lunch. But we don’t went to pay for a Chris’ steak and get served one from Bonanza either. Is the PSC doing their job? Entergy is. For the most part anyway.

Well the LPSC members can get contributions from the people they regulate, so know why they may sound like they are for you but vote for their interest in contributions.

There should be an ethics rule that they cannot receive contributions from industries they regulate. Also, that goes to employees and owners in the industries they regulate, where you can’t go around the contribution exemption by allowing a business owner or employee make the same structured donations.

I get all that. But wasn't Entergy funded by the government? I don't know so forgive me if that's a ridiculous question. But I'm pretty sure they were given some sort of financial assistance during that time. And then how much of a bonus/raise did the higher ups at Entergy get this year?

I agree with your Ruth's Chris analogy in that regard. I get that they need extra money. But to me, it seems as though Entergy blew through all the money they had to deal with something like that, and then turned around and put ALL of the responsibility on the customers. At the same time, they make their huge raise and huge bonus (at a time where there should be a company wide freeze to deal with the cost of rebuilding).

Sucks, but I had to go through something similar where I work (shitty raise, took away 401(K) match for a while, etc.) It sucked for a couple of years until we got everything back and got a great bonus. But the company paid off what they needed to and we got back to normal. Entergy put EVERYTHING on the customers to pay for all the rebuilding and never looked back.

Here's a start. Go to other states and look at their grid. It's not a bunch of weak wooden poles leaning on the edge of a ditch going down the road. Yet Entergy is going to do the same g damn thing and replace all the poles until the next storm comes and pushes them to the side.

Can you explain this more? Isn't inflation hitting them? Don't they have Ida damage to repair or pay for?
