I’ve been inundated with homeowners insurance advertisements the last week.

I normally receive 3-5 a year, but have gotten 5 in the last week. All of them have come from smaller companies that I’m not as familiar with. The rates they are quoting are half, in some cases, what I’m currently paying. I’m guessing some of the new bills that passed in the ‘25 legislative session is what is causing this. Are we actually going to see rates falling, or is something else causing this spike in advertisement?

Fly by night insurance companies that "go bankrupt" when a big hurricane hits and leave you stuck with LIGA.

Then when LDI offers incentives a few years later to come back and pick up citizens policies (as well as others) they come back under a new name and take the premiums until the next disaster occurs then leave again with no payments.

This and they use these quotes to get your attention and get you on the phone. Then when they "finalize the details" of your policy, it'll be for a few percentage points lower than your current policy but you're with a company you know absolutely nothing about

Car insurance companies do the same shite

Progressive just had a $1400 a year increase. Up to just under 5k for Homeowners. 0 Claims in 9 years BTW, and 0 damage from Ida even though we took a direct hit.

You'd be surprised the quotes I'm getting after giving all my info. Not just a few percentage points lower, almost HALF as much as Progressive.

Progressive went from 5 to 8 then to 10 this year after 11 years no claims and I switched to all state for 5k. Also saving 3 k on my auto with them.

How many Progressive ads did you see on TV this past weekend? Who was paying the salaries of their front men?

What's really weird is they are using Google Maps street view images of my house when they send the ad.

It’s all automated, the numbers are just bullshite they farm from info on the internet. My house is in some sort of awkward view from the google car so all the letters I get are never correctly framed, it’s just the corner of my house and my neighbors side yard

What are the names of the insurers? I am honestly curious. I've been getting hammered on premiums since Ida. I'm sick of it.

That’s the way a couple of mine have been with a street view of our house. I’ve thrown most away, but one was from a Maghen Dodge Insurance and another was from the Sanford Group Insurance. The first was a 337 area code, and Sanford Group is out of Prairieville.

Ah. Those are agents, not insurers.

We need new insurers to come into the LA market. It looks like we're going to have a hurricane free season, so that should help. That's what we needed after Ida, but then we had Francine last year.

How much extra are we paying for advertising either insurance or lawyers? Seems like if we could get rid of both of them, we’d save a lot!

Check the amount of coverage they are “quoting”. It’s probably half of what you have/need.

My question is.....why all the Pharmaceutical ads on TV? 8 of 10 are drug ads, like we can go tell the doctor I want...a certain drug because I saw it on a commercial. If they wouldn't advertise so much they could lower the price of drugs.....geeezzz

It’s a scam. They send you real looking quotes for great prices. Then you call them and the actual policy they offer you is significantly more and they want you to pay them a $200 membership fee for being able to buy the policy.
