I’m going on 20 years involved in track and the fact this is even a debate is nuts to me. I grew up in a very mixed race community and I’ve seen some friends I grew up with say “well he shouldn’t have put his hands on him first” like that’s a defense to stabbing him. Hell take track out of it and it still makes no sense.

Before I do that I'm going to need to know what they're serving.

Football was his main sport which is why it’s mentioned more than track. Until this thread the only person I read saying he was not participating in track was either Anthony’s father or the nation of islam sounding guy on Tweeter which I just took as them not knowing anything about track outside of sprinting events.

They see race first and foremost.
I know good black people.
But, in general everything with them is about race.

Black awards.
Black only scholarships.
Everything is race.
God help you if you're hiring someone and a member of hiring team is black, they'll almost always advocate for black candidate.
It's tiresome.

Almost all football players compete in T&F. It was required of the kids at my school 25 years ago. It was the same at my kids current school.

So would it be fair to say that you're an athletic supporter?

I bring a knife everywhere I go, with the exception of airplanes.

Students can’t bring weapons to school events or on school property. It’s basically a zero tolerance rule with school. It will likely depend on length of the blade on whether it was also illegal for him to bring a knife to a school event/school property or have it at all. I am not sure if being 17 and a student make any kind of knife illegal for him to have on school property or at school events, but an adult can bring one with a blade length of 5.5 inches or less.

quote:

House Bill 1935 introduced the concept of “location-restricted knives.” A location-restricted knife is any knife with a blade longer than 5.5 inches. These knives can be legally owned and carried, but there are limitations on where they can be taken. You cannot carry them into:

School buildings and campuses
Locations of school-sponsored events
High school, collegiate, or professional sporting events, or interscholastic events
Voting sites during elections
Courtrooms and government offices used by the court
Secured areas of airports
Correctional facilities
Within 1,000 feet of an execution site on the day of the execution
Amusement parks
Hospitals or nursing facilities
Passenger transportation vehicle of a school
Businesses with a liquor license where over half of their revenue comes from alcohol sales (known as “51% establishments”)
Religious places of worship such as churches, synagogues, and mosques

Minors under 18 years old are not allowed to buy location-restricted knives, and it’s illegal for anyone to sell these knives to them.

Additionally, minors are not permitted to carry knives with blades longer than 5.5 inches unless they are:

On their own property
In a private vehicle or boat, or traveling to or from one

Accompanied by a parent or legal guardian

Karmelo wasn't even signed up to race, he skipped school to come "hang out" at the track meet and deliberately chose to sit under some other school's tent just to start shite.

he was just a thug POS who showed up with a knife looking for trouble.

F that kid and frick his loser parents.

Nothing should surprise you anymore. Wasn’t it just a couple weeks ago a black runner beat a white runner with the baton in the middle of a race?

His was a Tanto tip knife. Not very common and it is specifically designed for killing.

I saw where that a-hole's defense team has already raised $20k.

This is how I picture what happened: He went into the tent, of a high school track team he wasn't on, carrying a knife, which wasn't visible at the time. Someone part of the team, whose tent he was in, noticed him which immediately raised suspension because why would someone who doesn't know anyone from that team, go sit in the area where the team keeps the team's personal items, equipment, etc?

He is told to get out of the tent. Instead of just leaving, he starts running his mouth and when he felt like he was going to possibly get his arse whipped, he pulls the knife and stabs the kid.

The defense will probably say he did it out of self defense, however; he brought the knife with him, into an area he knew that if someone saw him, would be told to leave and when that happened, instead of just leaving, he decided to engage because after all, if someone tried to "mess with him" he had a knife. So he provoked the situation.

The defense will probably try to say that he was in the tent, which wasn't illegal for him to be in. Someone from the team told him to get out and was aggressive towards him and when he feared they were going to do physical harm to him, he protected himself with the knife.

But hopefully having the knife on him in the first place will be used to show intent. Assuming this does go to trial, they need to inform the jury of the setting at track meets. That each team has a tent or "home base" where members of the team keep their belongings. If someone outside of the team goes into that area, they become a suspect of possible theft. So it was in their right to tell him to leave.

I want to know what he will say is the reason he had the knife. I assume weapons are banned from the area, so why was he illegally carrying a weapon? And if he felt threatened why didn't he just walk away from the situation and go tell a coach, a security guard or someone? Because he knew that if worse came to worst, he had a knife on him so he didn't just not walk away from the situation, he was throwing more fuel on the fire by simply not leaving.

Kid was 100% stealing other kids stuff and got caught or had a beef with the kid he stabbed. You don’t go to another school’s tent uninvited and take a seat. Regardless, you don’t stab someone at a school event.
