It's time to support the police 100% indefinitely

We give police a lot of shite on this board. I am one that has done it as well. However, if these last few weeks have shown this city anything, it's that this city, parish, and state police forces are top notch. We truly are blessed to have such amazing people willing to wear that uniform when there are known threats against their life, for something they had no part of.
These cops have to be totally drained. Their morale cannot be anywhere near acceptable right now. The portion of our city's population whose lack of civility takes up the bulk of their time then turns around and further makes their lives total hell. That's unacceptable. Just as we think we're from bullshite until the cops aren't indicted, this radical comes out of nowhere and mows down six of our local guys. At least two of which don't even live in this city, yet gave their lives to protect its citizens.
I couldn't put on a uniform right now, there is just no way.
If you see a cop in public, pick up his lunch/dinner bill, shake his hand, tell him you support him, just do something that gives those wearing a badge a glimmer of hope for humanity. We really are blessed to have BRPD, EBRSO, and LSP protecting us every day. It's something we forget when all is calm, but they have shown what a phenomenal force they are.
Support our men and women in law enforcement in anyway you can, and do so even more in the coming days and weeks. They need us now almost as much as we need them. Don't let their sacrifice be rewarded the way BLM would like for this to end.
No cop should pay for his/her meal for a long, long time.
Edit: Changed the title to a more appropriate length of time.

It's unfortunate it took these events to get people to realize that police are human beings too. We need to support them indefinitely.

Local ABC guy last night had somewhat of a rant calling for people to continue the support they've shown the past few weeks, challenging them to not return to the status quo when everything passes. It was a nice little segment.

These guys (and girls) all across the country have to be on edge. On one hand, they are tip-toeing trying not to get into altercations, and on the other hand, people are trying to kill them. Gotta be tough to keep your composure

My attitude is support them but hold them accountable. The two concepts are not mutually exclusive.
Right now, they need our support. Period.

I'm not using this as a chance to advertise, but it is relevant with what is going on. A few of you know that I work for Hooters of Louisiana. This year, at a national level, we will be lobbying for the creation of a National First Responder's Day. Honestly, I'm tired of every day being a nation something, but I was surprised to find out it doesn't exist. Nonetheless, I was happy to hear that we are making a big deal out of it. Details are few for me, but it sounds like we will be lobbying our state gov't to get behind it. We will also be doing a cookout for the Capitol Hill first responders (they have their own separate group) in October I believe. I know at the core it is about generating publicity, but a lot of good can come out of it.

I know of several groups seeking to have big days set aside for first responders soon. I think this shite has sparked that idea in a lot of people, obviously, though, you all are going the extra mile, which is awesome.

Which three of your worthless frickers downvoted this?

LEO's need to be held accountable for their actions, period. When they do their job well, they should be commended. When they do it poorly, they need to be called out.
I hate that the support of LEO's has become a political thing. If a cop makes a shitty decision, I'm not going to support he or she just because of a political stance. They're dealing with people face to face, and their decisions have lifelong consequences. They need to be supported when they're doing things the right way, and called out when they're not.

I do not think anyone disagrees. However, as a whole, we need to let the investigators complete the investigation before flying off the handle. If a cop makes a bad decision, let them handle it accordingly. This is the part where people bring up how the police cover up for their own, and that's probably true. It isn't always the case though.

My grandfather was a unit chief for BRPD a long time ago. I thank god everyday he made it through his career to see retirement and enjoy many of his family and friends milestones in their lives. If this culture war was going on while he was still on the force, my mom would be yelling and screaming at him to retire early.
