I do this for a living; you have one anecdote out of the, literally, hundreds of parole applications that are filed each year. But sure, I have no idea what I'm talking about

No it’s not just one case out of hundreds. It’s a lot, way more than the public is aware of and it’s ramped up a lot under Edwards. I just cited the most high profile case.

It’s true. Happened a couple of weeks ago. Man pled guilty to get life without instead of facing the death penalty. Was in prison for a long time, 30-40 years. Parole board decided he deserved to be considered for parole, and despite the victims parents, siblings, and daughter’s protests, he was granted parole. This all happened very quickly, like over a few days. I believe one of the conditions was that he had to leave the state, but I could be mistaken about that.

I think any one convicted of tape with DNA evidence should be castrated.
Any molesters root and stem or death.

Violent (class A and B)Felons forfeit all tax breaks and government benefits for 25 years. Parents of capital offenders lose all government benefits.

Crimes that result in death deal death to the criminal.

Property owners should be able to protect assets with force. I'm on a 7 day Facebook ban because in a comment to a video of thugs stealing bottles of liquor. I said "Someone should have cracked bottles over their heads. " then in response to someone who called me out for 'violence breeds violence ' I said "Violence is all these thugs know. Pay them back with it".

Ban "inciting violence and bodily harm".

Lol

This is what the author's of these draconian threads either ignore or don't understand. It's OK to trust the same incompetent justice system that let's criminals loose with administering eye for an eye punishments? GTFO.

Don’t even ask them how many lashings and executions we should dole out for Jan 6th.

As a point of clarification, people can apply for parole every two years once they are eligible. So for the sake of easy math, let's say you're serving 20 years on one of the crimes of violence that has parole eligibility as a first offender. You would be parole eligible after serving 65% of your sentence

Like i said, if you do this for a living you are not doing a good job making these statements. They are wrong. The offenders get out after serving 65% no matter what unless they screwed up in jail. There is no parole eligibility at that time, they go free.

It’s even worse for regular crime. So if you steal hundreds of thousands of dollars and get ten years, you may serve 3. And that’s only if you don’t make parole before then.

Question, if you accept the premise that our prisons do a bad job at rehabilitating people, then you also favor hard punishment/longer sentences for “regular crimes”, (many non violent), do you not the see problem there?

Literally everything in your post is wrong.

Parole eligibility in Louisiana for a first time crime of violence is 65% with a good time date at 75%. Parole eligibility for a non crime of violence is 25% with a good time date at 35%.

Like, taking a couple of crimes that deserve life off of the table, why would you not want the system to be more about rehabilitation? Unless you favor keeping someone locked up for life over every crime, then you should favor a system that better focuses on rehabilitating people/teaching them life skills/trades/ etc.

So let me get this straight the Animals that murder in ungodly ways such as this guy should be protected under the 8th Amendment? Why do they get leniency? when their victims got none? I'm all for getting rid of 8th Amendment if it makes one of these animals rethink committing these types of murders.

For murder and rape that can be proven by modern criminology techniques, ie, DNA, video evidence, etc, a SWIFT AND PUBLIC execution should be the penalty. Give the convict six months to appeal and then hang them. A firing squad is considered an honorable soldier’s death, but hanging is humiliating and effective. Deterrence for future criminals should always be on the table. Of course, without drastic changes this ain’t gonna happen.

Armed self-defense. It's really that simple. It's on the individual, not society, not the government, for being responsible for personal safety. The kidnapper could have been legally shot and killed if that individual had been equipped and willing. Unfortunately too many in society are soft and lazy and expect to be protected.

The same people who are so not trustful of the government in every other way, trust in them completely in this regard.

Let me guess, you distrust the government in almost every conceivable way, including I’m sure high level law enforcement, but yet you want people executed immediately and brutally based off of full trust in the government.
