Pretty simple. Older people and football fans don't watch the Super Bowl because of the halftime artist. They are trying to attract a younger crowd who wouldn't watch at all if they aren't interested in the halftime performance.

NFL specifically targets its non-regular demographic for the Hafltime show and always has. It was always the part of the Super Bowl for the kids and wives so to speak. It's hilarious that all of a sudden its an issue.
Bad Bunny was the most streamed artist annually on Spotify (since 2020) before Swift's recent run.

I think my dream halftime show would be Bob Seger.
Unfortunately, Bob is lust like Metallica and won't get out of bed without getting PAID bigtime. He and Metallica were the last holdouts against the streaming services and negotiated huge contracts to allow their music to be streamed.
