Yep, and IMO, the rest of the library isn’t close.

Damn that makes me feel old.

My first game of "Spin the Bottle" was played with that newly released album playing in the background.

Damn.

I had just seen them with Bon Scott not all that long before this LP. I was in High School. I should be dead already.

It's the most perfectly recorded rock album ever. I like plenty of other albums more but sound-wise it doesn't get any better. The separation of all the instruments, level control, crisp highs, just enough bottom end, nothing ever gets drowned out no matter how intense the crescendos are. It's often used by sound engineers as an audio template.

One of the greatest come back stories of all time. Bands usually get buried when the lead singer dies but AC/DC went and made one of the highest selling albums ever

I have a friend that used to work at the Peabody in Memphis in 80s. I asked him who were the biggest assholes that ever stayed there and who were some of the coolest people that you would not expect. His answer for the biggest assholes were the PGA golfers and he said they we’re completely out of fricking control, and worst than most rock bands.

For and the coolest people that you wouldn’t expect he said was AC/DC. He said they were with their families and couldn’t have been nicer, were real laid back but still friendly and not least bit dickheads.

Shoot to thrill has one of the best riffs of all time. Simple but powerful. Hard to believe that was 40 years ago!

Bon Scott.

Odd fact: Bon Scott had a job as a crawfisherman when he was young.

Dang autocorrect got me.
I knew his name was “Bon” not “Bob”. Bob just sure doesn’t match, especially for an Aussie.
Further, I think he really had more input in Back in Black than the group admits. My guess is their reasoning was to give credit and validity to their new guy Brian Johnson.

They get a lot of shite for being simple minded loud rock

paraphrasing a quote from Angus Young I saw in an interview once:

interviewer: "What do you say to people who say you have released 9 albums that all sound alike?"

Angus: "That is completely wrong. We have released 10 albums that all sound alike!"
