Not only that, in terms of politics hes giving local officials power over their own areas, because they know more than he would at the federal level.

The only thing he can do is get supplies, but hospitals and states have to ASK for it.

Maybe just let Walmart handle medical supply chains during emergencies. Much more efficient than government can deliver.

Razor thin pm? What is the payroll including executives and bod? Medicare and Medicaid? Yeah, us tax payers pay for that as well as our own deductibles. I don’t feel sorry for anyone working in a hospital. All I hear about is how hard they work to get where they are. Have a problem then don’t do it, get a different degree.

yea man we could definitely do without doctors and nurses. get a real job ! Go work in a plant like a real american!

Plants aren't running out of PPE.
Just saying.

Going through this guys history, it looks like he works in construction management.

Let’s ask him how he feels if his guys were left without the proper PPE, tools, AND/or working conditions, how long would that job continue to be up and running until said proper PPE for the job is on site?

His site would be shut down IMMEDIATELY.

I’m sure your counter would be “my company would never leave us high and dry!” or some bullshite out like that. I’m fairly sure there will never be a construction job taken or even considered being bid upon if they KNEW there was going to be an emergency situation.

These doctors and nurses have no choice.

So how about you get off your high horse and see it from someone else’s eyes?

What'd the hospital do with all they money we pay them?
seriously. We just paid $1,300 to Tulane Hospital and I saw a fb post from them asking people for free PPE. I literally just cut a check to them in the last week.

Says the guy that’s not working in a New Orleans hospital posting from the comfort of a place that’s not crawling with this flu.

Well I didn't hit the beach on D-Day either but I'm pretty comfortable in saying that was a bit more frightening than this "flu" as you call it.

I understand nurses bitching about the PPE shortages. It kind of amazes me, honestly, that there wasn’t some sort of national stockpile given all of the talk about pandemics over the past 10 years or so.

What bugs me is all of the “front lines of the war” back-patting chatter, and the finger wagging at people who are upset over their lost income.

What bugs me even more is the “overworked and underpaid” or “putting our lives on the line for peanuts” talk. Nursing pay is well above the national median, and (in most areas) slightly above the median for people with a 4-year degree. While working 36 hour weeks. I know multiple nurses personally that are not-so-secretly excited for shite to get bad enough for hospitals to start offering incentive pay or unlimited OT so they can cash in.

Meanwhile, there are a ton of people out there (police, firefighters, military, etc.) who are have objectively more dangerous jobs, make less money, and don’t throw it in your face nearly as much.

All of that said, it is certainly a shitty situation right now. Will be interesting to see how many lawsuits get filed by healthcare workers when this is all said and done.

Healthcare workers in the U.S. are getting this and dying though. There was a nurse in his late 30s that just died from this in New York(not obese but he did have a history of asthma). And that naturally is gonna scare those that have to care for these patients. Also...many of these healthcare workers may not even necessarily be scared of getting it and them dying...they are mainly worried about taking this home to their loved ones or unknowingly spreading it to the patients they care for.

And before you say "well they must not be healthy then"....newsflash...many people have some underlying health condition that they may have no control over (ex: asthma, etc). How many people do you know that are overweight or obese? Already been shown obesity a major risk factor cause those obese patients don't do well at all once they get on a ventilator.

This as well. You still need to have lower wage workers that have lots of patient contact that are vital to the hospital(nursing assistants, transporters, etc).

Also think about EVS...they have to clean these rooms and expose themselves as well.
