It's tarantula wasp season in the southwest!

As tarantulas come out again, so do these predator wasps.






They have been measured as having the second most painful sting of any insect in the entire world.

Holy hell I killed one of these in my shop a couple weeks back had no idea what it was but scared the shite out of me. Ended up spraying it with carb cleaner

It wasn't as big as the pics above but was absolutely what it was. I didn't think much about it til now.

What ants am I thinking of? The ones that have killed babies and old people because they move so quickly and in such large groups?

Tarantula Wasp is #2 only to the Bullet Ant on the Schmidt List.It's said that Schmidt let 150 Insects sting him in the name of Science.
