Free speech is fine when we’re talking about killing cops and burning cities. But question election results and you are literally a domestic terrorist. The double standard is shocking.

This has to be some kind of antitrust issue right? Parler is the predominant Twitter competitor. The people censored from Twitter have moved there over the past few years.

You’d have a hard time winning a lawsuit that theses companies are unfairly requiring a process for moderating actual threats against the government and organizing violence. This isn’t your average conservative being targeted by this.

Maybe. But Twitter allows Antifa organization, cop killing advocacy, discussion of the elimination of Israel/Jews, etc.

This is a concerted effort to bully conservatives into changing their thoughts. Apple, Google, etc. are genuinely saying that you cannot have a truly blank slate discussion platform - which is what Parler is.

Very basically - "Want to have access to the modern world? you have to think like we do." And this isn't just about the Trump stuff, Reddit, Twitter, etc. have banned people for questioning transgenderism.

It's no coincidence that the left got a stranglehold on the country's branches and you immediate see big tech start throwing its weight heavily toward eliminating ideas.

I don’t really agree with your analogy here

I agree that businesses should be able to choose their clients and who they do business with whether it is the cake lady not serving a gay couple or if it is Amazon telling Parler to get off their servers.

What I don’t agree with is Apple and Google being able to pull something off their app stores because they don’t agree with what they are doing. That is running really close to monopoly territory as they control probably 95% of apps being installed between the two of them. If they aren’t breaking ToS then they should be on there like anything else.

Liberals embracing this idea is the epitome of hypocrisy. Conservatives in general still advocate this right. The issue is the double standard touted by the left. They keep changing the rules. I and most conservatives believe that businesses, whether run by conservatives, liberals, or whatever, have the right to refuse service to anyone. If people want to discriminate, let the FREE market decide. But it has to apply to everyone.

This is some scary shite! I’m not sure how the Dems can defend this one. It would be nice to see them condemn these tech oligarchs, but I’m not holding my breath.

That’s debatable. But regardless whether that is true or not, businesses should have the right to not provide a service that opposes their moral or religious beliefs. And I support that right on both sides. Unfortunately, the side that promotes itself as being the champions of “diversity” doesn’t.

I am 100% against this move and censorship of any opposing ideas.

But realistically, in this political climate, the optics would not have been there to get this far if you didn't have loonies out there (Lin and others) literally not figuratively threatening to kill the sitting VP (and others).

Also, the fricking president basically whipping up his fringe supporters to the point where they took acrion leading to actual deaths and the physical overtaking of our capital.

Without these fricking nut jobs, this would have never happened. Again, not saying it should have or that it's justified by any means.

Unintended consequences coming home to roost from utter insanity.

The left did the exact same thing for the entirety of 2020 and nothing happened.

Again, we've been gaslit so much on a daily basis, your thought seems completely reasonable. The truth is Joe, Kamala, and company have been doing the exact same thing but it's OK because they have the correct kind of thinking.

There is absolutely no equal application of laws, TOS, etc. That's the issue here.

Remember when the authoritarian types on the left responded to the purge of non progressive voices with “go set up your own platform”.

Well they don’t really like that either. Since they are clearly trying to shut down competitors to Twitter.
