The Plano-based company announced it will partner with FedEx to test a new pizza-wielding robot that can roll right up to someone's front door. FedEx is also partnering with Auto Zone, Lowe's, Target, Walgreens and Walmart for home deliveries.

The new bot is focused solely on the rising demand for delivered goods from nearby businesses. A press release from FedEx notes that "on average, more than 60 percent of merchants' customers live within three miles of a store location."

FedEx's robot has been designed to roll on sand, gravel and concrete. It can even climb stairs.

Will they be armed in case the usual suspects attempt to rob them?

What happens when people start stealing the robots and reprogramming them?

Also, what if I want the robot to come in and have a drink?

Sounds like an easy way to get free pizza or packages unless this thing pulls out a laser beam.

Don't have to worry about someone dragging their nuts through salsa.

Without even trying to be funny...what happens if it gets stuck? What happens if it gets hit by a dude on a scooter or bike? How does it cross the street?

I just see this is an expensive piece of equipment where the pros may not outweigh the cons.

I don’t mind robotic technology, but what the hell is wrong with paying teenagers to deliver pizzas?

Agreed. I would rather see them behind a counter at McDonald's.
