How in the hell is this still blocking the road? Kill power to the area, cut it, and pull it out of the way.

Then figure out how to re wire it after hours tonight.

Doing something that makes sense in THIS godforsaken city?!

I think when accidents happen, the at-fault driver should be ticketed an amount proportional to the total man-hours lost in the ensuing clusterfrick.

Fender bender in the middle of nowhere? No biggie. Car breaks down on the bridge? $10k. Knock over the power lines and cause THIS shite show? Better take out a second mortgage baw.

I’d love to know how many cars ran over those power lines on I-12 before the cops shut it down

Once the lines hit the ground the circuit breakers or "re-closers" as they are called opened, they are usually programed to try and reset three times, after that the lines stay dead until someone investigates the problem.

Driving from DFW to New Orleans and noticed I-12 is shut down. On pace to BR by 2. Should we stick it out and take 10 or go south of Lafayette to highway 90? Any advice appreciated

too bad you guys don't have the Audubon Bridge.
I just flew over from the West side. I mean no one was on it but me.

I'd avoid BR like the plague. No way this is cleared by 2.

Get off on 190 in Opelousas. Then if it’s still fricked by the time you get near BR you can take the old bridge and go Airline to I-12E. Looks like that on ramp is open.

ETA: Poster below is probably right. Even if this shite clears up there’s like an 80% chance something else stupid will happen by the time you get to BR.

Do whatever Waze says, but I would avoid BTR at all costs. Take a scenic route.

Ever taken that route? It has a number of pretty scenic segments, and with "no traffic" it only would cost you an extra 15-30 minutes. A decent bit of it is freeway (or near-freeway).

Today though, that southern route is absolutely your best bet!

90 South through Laffy to Houma to NOLA FTW!

BR is gonna be a shite show no matter how/when you get there. All it takes is one more event (highly likely) and its gridlock all over again.
