Okay. So you think the FDA doesn’t enforce this? Or think they enforce it incorrectly?

The FDA should do their job and not pick winners and losers. That is not a regulatory agency.
When does this line get crossed? A regulatory agency is going to prevent some things from getting to market by definition of regulating an industry.
Do you want an oversight agency for the oversight agency? So more regulation?

I think it should be done at the state level. And I don’t think we should allow them to choose what is healthy and make regulations on it. I want to be able to eat red meat and healthy fats, not high fructose corn syrup and processed white bread.

really don’t understand the simping for bad behavior simply because it’s done by a “private” company. It’s odd.
There is an organic version of everything you buy. It might be a little pricier and require a little more work to prepare, but the government isn’t needed to solve consumer laziness.

I do hate that so much packaging is plastic. Everything is wrapped and coated and contained in plastic whereas in the past it would’ve been glass.

You want each state to have its own regulatory agency to determine food and drug safety? Yikes. Very difficult for a business to navigate. The constitution allows fedgov to regulate interstate commerce for a reason.
As to your second point, not sure what’s stopping you from doing that now. The entire premise of this thread is from reading what the FDA allows as ingredients. Seems if there was a clarity problem, we wouldn’t have a thread bitching about ingredients.

Italy allows less than 50 preservatives in their food. US allows over 500.

What is stopping you? You trying to get your groceries at the convenience store?

These ultra processed foods are just as bad for you as cigarettes, and you don’t hear a peep on television or the internet about it.

What does organic mean in the context of our food supply, and why is that a solution? Don’t tell me what you think organic means. Tell me what it means in the context of our food supply.

I’m talking like YouTube or Twitter ads.

Until people make the conscious change to move to cleaner options, this shite will continue and likely get worse. We are a country of weak minded, lazy people who opt for whatever is easier or better tasting.

Yes and it needs to be an elected position. You think the FDA and USDA do a good job? You don’t think there’s a concern of incorrect regulation, corruption, or sever inefficiencies?
And to the second point, I don’t trust that giving the government more power won’t result in them choosing the incorrect winners and losers. The moon bats on the left have already talked about laws limiting meat consumption.

This is an example of how effete and lame so much of the right can be. “Freedom” isn’t letting corporations put shite in our food just because they can make a buck off of it.” The government telling corporations they can’t do that isn’t “the government controlling the food supple”.
Except the government is complicit, and in fact helped push sugars

The vast majority of that is just marketing to justify a higher price point.
It's hard to argue laziness when food is engineered to be addictive these days. But sure, the giant conglomerates, which companies like RJ Reynolds moved into, will no doubt so the altruistic thing over solely being concerned about next quarters numbers.

Also true. Regulatory capture.
