But the LSP somehow allows a cruiser riddled with bullet holes sit somewhere for almost an entire day?

I live about a mile from that bank so I’m pretty familiar with the layout of the immediate area.

That amount of time passing before LSP discovered the officer is absolutely unacceptable. But I’m also very curious to know how the Ascension Parish Sheriffs Department worked the scene of a double shooting/murder right down the same street and never questioned why that LSP unit was just sitting there for what I’d imagine was hours as they investigated.

Every single person working that crime scene drove right by that marked police unit going to and leaving the scene, there’s no other way in or out.

Not only that, two hours after the crime they’re investigating another State Trooper is involved in a shootout/pursuit less than 2 miles away.

It just seems like one of the investigators would have at least pulled into that parking lot at some point with the intention of having some sort of communication with the State Trooper.

They would have found him in 5 minutes if they were looking for him. His portable radio has gps. So there’s all you need to know.

Well obviously they weren’t looking for him. Maybe I’m naive and it would be totally crazy for a LEO to reach out to a fellow LEO in that situation.

Guy just sitting there in his patrol unit for hours as you work a double shooting within a golf shot of him and the suspect isn’t in custody.

Silly me

I’m assuming he has a wife, but it’s weird that no one from his personal life thought to reach out after he didn’t get off when he was supposed to around 6am. Much less when 6pm rolled around.

I'm trying to figure out how he was parked in the Capitol One lot for the Trooper himself (inside the truck) to not be visible to the people passing on the street behind, at the Airline intersection, or even coming through the parking lot to get to the ATM.

Just odd to say the least.

That Capital One branch was open until noon on Saturday (per website)....
How did the customers and employees not notice?

Capital One has embraced customers that don't have money and don't go to the bank often.

Were there bullet holes in the car? Broken glass? Mire ambushed this guy. Was his window down? The more you consider this, the weirder it gets.

Very true and worthy of its own thread.

I went down the rabbit hole on this topic for hours and hours this weekend.

He is a drug head whose gf died from an overdose. He supposedly gave another woman some Fentanyl that resulted in an OD.

This - there just seems to be “something “ missing in all of these explanations.
LSP is suffering from a massive organizational failure. This situation is just one indication.

His portable radio would have been off while sitting in his patrol unit.

That’s the kind of answer I was looking for. You and I have lived a very similar life to each other, Clean. 5 years sober here.

Why would LSP maintain radio silence? It's my understanding they use a trunked system that is not accessible by scanner. And in many cases cops will use cell phones also for security.

Doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Only one person can talk on channel at a time. So they suspend radio traffic for emergency traffic only.

Other poster is right...non emergency traffic should have been moved to another channel.
