No idea. If you listen to a lot of people lithium ion isn't the future, but it is far from an optimized industry.

You do know that billions of dollars are being invested into battery tech...please tell me you do...

You’re probably typing this on a lithium powered battery phone which will ultimately end up in the landfill at some point. But let’s hate on the cars instead of the phones.

Is that directed at me because I whole heartedly agree with your statement. No one seems to care when their tools and phones use rare earth metals and end up in a dump in India for kids to scrounge

It is going to be synthetic diamond nuclear batteries.

How dare you so much as suggest that some of these baws should go back to corded power tools, like cavemen!!!

Is Lithium and battery power the new ‘global warming’ trigger for folks on the right? Why does it always come down to "us vs them" in every conversation? Not everything has to be binary in this world.

Pretty much. You would think smartphones that last for days and supercharged cars that can go thousands of miles on a charge would be something everyone could get behind. But it's pretty clear that there's a decently sized contingent in this country that are actively pulling against technological advances, just so they can say I told you so.
They probably also still have a closet full of old light bulbs that put out more heat than light

Won't buy a flat screen because it is just an expensive fad that will die out.

That's retarded.
People are rightfully questioning the forced transition to a technology that isn't proven, isn't superior, and the market isn't willingly adopting on its own.

Just wait until they start trying to replace diesel tractor trailers with batteries......

I never plan on owning an EV so one of y'all can have my lithium

Saw a dozen new Teslas on the road recently presumably being delivered as they were on a truck…of course it was a good ole fashioned diesel tractor trailer. So green of them, eye roll.

Regular gas car aren’t normally transported from factory to dealership via tractor trailers?

The OP qualifies 'proven reserves' in his hysteria.
Now that you mention "hysteria", tell me again exactly WHY is it that these EVs are being shoved down our throats?
