I have never once felt them being shoved down my throat.
Imagine the next 2-5 vehicle purchases I make will be ICE and I don't chamge cars that often.
ICE isn't going anywhere.

Dude just dropped a “trust me bro” citing something he claims to have read 30 years ago as if it’s still representative to now.
Lithium reserves are a valid concern. But he misses on two points:
1)
His estimate is detached from reality saying that it couldn’t provide coverage period. Given current growth rate of EVs, they are expecting depletion not to occur until at least 70 years from now, depending on degree of recycling.

2)the gaps aren’t being ignored. And lithium ion batteries have finally hit a wall of development. Scientists are playing around with multiple of alternatives that don’t use lithium at all.
Sodium and calcium based batteries are seeing big breakthroughs in recent years.

If you have to ask…..

So much misinformation and lies.
First, it takes maybe 100 kg of lithium (but probably less) for one EV battery. I believe we know of at least 20 million metric tons of reserves, which is enough for more than 200 million vehicles. And we know of 100 million more tons of resources, which is enough for a billion EVs. Also the oceans contain several hundred to thousands of times more lithium than we could ever need, should the need and tech arise.
But we will never need that much because lithium in an EV battery doesn't get used up, it is infinitely recyclable. The lithium in your first EV will be recycled and used to build one for the next generation.
Also it is doubtful that lithium is the pinnacle of battery tech. We've only been developing it for a few decades, and given that it will take many more decades for EV adoption to come close to 100%, and that there are multiple other techs and chemistries in development, it's highly unlikely that we will ever come close to running out.
As with all markets, there will be shortages at times, and I'd expect folks like you to harp on it every time using your lithium-containing phones via the internet which is backed up by lithium-containing UPS systems at every hop.
The claim that it is physically impossible to build an EV for everyone on the planet is false and stupid. You should be ashamed of yourself, whether because you are too stupid to know this fact or if you are a liar.

Go with hydrogen fueled vehicles. Most abundant element in the universe. Break down water and you get hydrogen (Fuel) and oxygen (antipolution element). Burn hydrogen and you get heat (power vehicles) and water as waste product from the combustion.
I know there are lots of problems with hydrogen fuel. Hopefully someone (who is alive and working on it today) will figure out how to do it. Certainly makes more sense than lithium.

It has been known since at least the early 1990s that there are not sufficient proven lithium reserves on THE GLOBE to satisfy global demand for automobiles (not even mentioning other forms of fossil fuel transportation

Here's a useless factoid from an old fart. When I worked for GM (Senior Quality Engineer for Packard Electric Division) there was a program where you could pick up your corvette at the end of the assembly line Be the first person to crank it and then drive it out the door of the corvette plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
GM was smart. That was an option you had to purchase when you ordered your vette. I knew of people who walked their vette all the way down the assembly line, and shook hands with the workers.

Batteries can be made from substances other than Lithium. I agree that we should be very careful with electrifying our transportation and shipping infrastructure.

Ok. There are currently 1.4 billion cars on earth.
At the current rate of sales/manufacture it will take a century to replace them all. At a very aggressive growth rate it will take several decades. Are you under the impression that new lithium reserves are not and will not be found? Are you under the impression that extraction technology will cease to improve and that proven resources will never be profitably extracted? These are asinine assumptions btw.

And 60 years after first panic, we still haven’t come close to peak oil.
