I laminated mine even though it says not to. Never had an issue with it.

It's retarded that we're forced to use our SSN and the card as identification when it can easily be used to steal someone's identity. I don't know why we don't have national ID. I shouldn't have to give anyone my SSN number other than for tax purposes.

Mine was stolen with my brief case in SF in 1998 and I have never replaced it. No one has ever asked me for it. I probably have 17 alter egos out there.
