At minimum, inflicting serious losses on the IDF, to the point where Israel is forced to declare a ceasefire.

Why do you say that? Do you not think IDF is armed and prepared enough?

This whole thing is terrible...Israel put in a tough spot...If you believe Hamas is evil, they must be taken out...unfortunately, that means innocent civilian casualties.
I don't think Biden Administration has the balls to take out the main culprit...Iran.
Iran isn't for the Biden administration to take out.

What do people who are calling for Israel to abandon making Gaza evacuate want to do? Just let them stay as they invade?
Israel is taking Gaza. That is happening. You don’t kill 1000+ people and do that without consequences. I just don’t understand where they’re coming from practically. I get wanting to not hurt a single civilian. That’s important. But Hamas has forced Israel’s hand. I don’t see what choice they have unless they just expect Israel to not punish Gaza for this horrible act it’s committed.

Stanford removing the professor in question. This is a problem created when lived experience is an accepted defense for one’s scholarship. It makes everyone a theater major and every discussion performative.
Alternatively, a more positive example from Berkeley.

UC Berkeley has some faculty members who are Palestinian, and others who are Israeli. Dr. Hatem Bazian is Palestinian and a lecturer of Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures. Dr. Ron Hassner is Israeli and a professor of Israel Studies. Bazain and Hassner wrote a joint statement to the campus, stating, “We are two professors on this campus who disagree, vehemently. But we have always treated one another with respect and dignity.”

Bingo.
They are upset that Israel isn’t laying down and taking it like they should.
And they are in the extreme minority because the barbarity of what Hamas did makes sympathy for Palestinians just another word in the dictionary between shite and syphilis.

If they are handing out yellow stars in Berlin right now, people wearing pink triangles may want to GTFO of the city.

USA is trying to work with Egypt to allow evacuation in thru the borders for civilians. Basically Egypt wants payment to consider it.
quote:looks like the Rafah Crossing is going to be open to foreign passport holders. If this isn't executed properly and I do not trust our state department to do that then it's going to be a bonanza for Hamas. They will conduct their own screening on their side as long as they can and take those foreign passport holders as hostages.
Of course they want payment. How much will be laundered back to “the big guy”? Customary 10%, plus whatever goes to other politicians?

Chicken what do you think? This going to become a regional conflict?
If the United States wants this, then yes.
The Middle East is a corporate war cash cow, an ATM. If this region were to stabilize, countless billions in earning potential would evaporate.
This region is made and managed for war. Other than oil production and American corporate wars, the Middle East has no other global value. Arabs and Muslims bring nothing culturally or intellectually to the global stage. They contribute nothing to global advancement.
The purpose of the Middle East (and this also Includes Israel) is to make war and/or fuel. And right now Raytheon, GE, Northrop Grumman, Halliburton and every publicly traded military contractor in this country wants war.
So to answer your question. Yes, this will likely become regional and American servicemen will die to improve someone's investment portfolio.
As alot of you folks clamor for greater American involvement, attacks on Iran or whatever else. Just remember, these wars aren't meant to be won. They're meant to be bled for profit.

It’s not even really about punish, it’s about security going forward - Hamas cannot be there anymore - End of story. Whatever it takes to make that happen will happen, hopefully with as minimum civilian Pali casualties as possible, but that is secondary.

Idiots on Twitter are calling for peace.
You don't get to kill 1,000+ people then call for peace. That ship has sailed.
Hamas doesn't want peace anyway.

Peace in the Islamic world is only an option when you are in danger of being completely wiped out and need to get time to recover.
Hamas begging for peace fire Israel dropped the first bomb was a sign they know they are about to get wiped off the map.

Over/under that a seaborne assault on N Gaza comes within single digit hours after crossing border with conventional forces?
I give it about 80% chance
