Maybe that is who Govt should be mandating to take it. But they are NOT.

7 Vaccinated Florida Patients Die of COVID; Nurse Calls Situation 'Disturbing'

OP posts a study involving millions of people and interpreted by scientists, and you post about 7 folks and a nurse. This exchange should be memorialized as the perfect example of the dumb motherfrickers who are anti-vaxers.

Still not getting one since it doesnt prevent the spread.

Stopping the spread and reducing it are two different things. The vaccines greatly reduce transmission for the average infected person. It is near impossible to have sterilizing immunity for mucosal viruses but you can use them to significantly reduce the infectiousness of the individual.

So the numbers you are seeing in the OP are the CURRENT efficacy numbers against hospitalization

C'mon, lets be honest. I'm not concerned about the fully vaxed person in the hospital now am I? I'll likely never see that person

The person sitting next to me at the LSU game that is 'fully vaxed' can still catch and the pass the virus on to me, right? The mild symptom guy is the one that is most likely to put my life in danger, so his vaccination status doesnt mean shite to me at this point in time, does it?

No. Your vaccination status matters most to you

And now we are back full circle to the OP, because as my vaccine starts to wane, I'm now likely to be the guy in the hospital, not the mild case at the LSU game

Does that make it no longer up to you to maintain your vax status?

So for people under 40, the risks of a severe case was already low. But the vaccine effectively lowered that risk even lower to practically zero.

A 31 time reduction in risk from statistically 0 is 0.

If they could also give info on the overall health (before Covid) for those unvaxxed severe cases, that would be great.

The numbers are based on what they have seen in unvaxxed people in Israel in the latest wave(so it takes into account people who didn’t get the virus as well)not what would happen if you guaranteed an unvaxxed person got the virus So some people are severely underestimating the severity of covid in hwre(even though it’s still low)

Makes sense

Covid aside, you do understand how averages work? And last year was the largest life expectancy drop in the US since WW2. 1.5 years less.

Possible, do you have anything to back up this suicide theory?

Or was that miscounted as well.

To make it slightly clearer, the OP data says that 1 out of 500k people aged 30-39 vaccinated will get a sever case while 31 out of 500k will get a severe case in not vaxxed. Both scenarios are very, very low.

Most people don’t take action at a 31/500,000 chance.

I wonder what the chances are of me getting in a severe wreck on my way to pick up my son from school. I bet my chances of not getting in that wreck are much lower if I take him out of school and home school him.

That’s the point many make. People take “risks” all the time. If you want to be completely safe from any harm ever, fine. Stay home, don’t eat fried food, don’t drink alcohol, don’t see friends or family. At least you’re alive.

All true, but this also misses the point that the government clearly can’t communicate - vaccines have never really been about individual risk. They’re about putting the group above oneself. They obviously limit your individual risk quite a bit, but, more importantly, they help slow/stop the spread of a virus altogether.

That being said, I still support an individual’s right to tell the group to piss off.

Correct. Every child that currently gets vaccinated for measles, mumps, rubella etc etc is actually protecting all of us adults who are actually walking around with no immunity any more because our immunity has already waned
