Long story short I had this conversation yesterday with a Buddy of mine who got one of these almost a year ago in the mail.....he says that he wasn’t in possession of the vehicle (ex gf was) when it happened and he wasn’t going to pay it.

Now he says they’ve turned it over to collections and they called him said city of Baton Rouge will boot and toe his vehicle if he don’t pay.

I told him they were full of crap (and admittingly said this was strictly off info I read on TD about this subject) they weren’t going to do anything .....am I wrong here?

Will be funny when he tries to renew his DL or car registration.

And why is your "buddy" capitalized? Is he a more important buddy than everyone elses? You sound racist.

The city is violating a lawsuit settlement if it affects his credit score.

We had multiple on both vehicles when we moved and reregistered in TN. LA nor TN said shite to us about them. Bought two houses since and not a blip on our credit report about them.

OP, ignore it.

Sounds like he better pay if they're going to start decorating his car with his own toes. They're obviously not screwing around anymore.

You're not wrong, but records don't transfer from LA to TN. You could have a suspended license in LA but still get one in TN.

That whole thing is a scam. Kinda fricked up if you think about it. When the red light cameras initially came out, they said on all news media outlets that it would absolutely affect your credit report if you didn't pay. Guess that was just a scare tactic the whole time. Also, when the company sends the ticket, the envelope makes it look as if it's from the EBR traffic division (like the police department). The follow up letters saying that you haven't paid yet look like a law office is sending you something.

I wish somebody would sue the living frick out of these companies and make them just go away. And shame on EBR for getting suckered into believing them. I bet they have yet to see a single penny in revenue from the project.

Collectively the best thing the people in my town ever did was vote those fricking cameras out the year after they were implemented; despite the efforts of the out-of-state based company that set them up and was profiting from them. Democracy at its finest.

They used to have these speed vans they'd park on the side of the interstate in Livingston Parish. The baws out there got sick of them and started shooting them up. The company eventually pulled them out due to all of the vehicle damage
