she said she had given up the extremist 'ideology' that convinced her to leave her family and that she wanted to be welcomed home by the American people.
I think a perfectly acceptable compromise to this situation would be to send her family to join her in Syria

Let her come back and convict her of wartime treason which is a penalty of death.

Yeah this is BS. An apostate in Islam culture gets killed in all sorts of really bad ways. No way she is turning her back on that ideology while still in Syria and remains untouched/ especially a female..this is a constructed plot by isis. We should let her in and put 24/7 watch on her along with wire taps etc

Reminds me of the "American Taliban" Although he has not renouced extremism like this girl supposedly has
JWL is serving 20 years in Federal prison
John Walker Lindh, American taliban
Michael Chertoff, then-head of the Criminal Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, then directed the prosecutors to offer Lindh a plea bargain. Lindh could plead guilty to two charges: supplying services to the Taliban (50 U.S.C. § 1705(b), 18 U.S.C. § 2, 31 C.F.R. 545.204, and 31 C.F.R. 545.206a) and carrying an explosive during the commission of a felony (18 U.S.C. § 844(h)(2)). He would have to consent to a gag order that would prevent him from making any public statements on the matter for the duration of his 20-year sentence, and he would have to drop any claims that he had been mistreated or tortured by U.S. military personnel in Afghanistan and aboard two military ships during December 2001 and January 2002. In return, all other charges would be dropped. The gag order was said to be at the request of Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.[9]
Lindh accepted this offer. On July 15, 2002, he entered his plea of guilty to the two remaining charges. The judge asked Lindh to say, in his own words, what he was admitting to: "I plead guilty. I provided my services as a soldier to the Taliban last year from about August to December. In the course of doing so, I carried a rifle and two grenades. I did so knowingly and willingly knowing that it was illegal." Lindh said that he "went to Afghanistan with the intention of fighting against terrorism and oppression," fighting for the suffering of ordinary people at the hands of the Northern Alliance.[9] On October 4, 2002, Judge T.S. Ellis III formally imposed the sentence: 20 years without possibility of parole

Only Left ISIS after running out of food, but Don’t consider her a threat.
Instead of punishment give her therapy and a process to ensure She will never do something like this again, but don’t consider her a threat.
She cries almost every night at the thought of being put in prison but not the murder and terrorism she supported and called for even before she went to Syria, but don’t consider her a threat.
As a 20 year old wanting to gain more freedom to go places than given at home she equated becoming more religious to getting more freedoms and also equated becoming more religious to becoming radicalized, calling for blood shed on Twitter, & eventually choosing to join ISIS in Syria. I feel like a seed was at least planted in her mind by her parents and their mosque.
Growing up around a handful of muslims from various middle eastern countries I tend to agree with the statement made by a British Muslim on a British documentary after 9/11 - behind the closed doors of a mosque there are no moderate Muslims. It doesn’t mean that they all will actually commit terrorist acts or even directly aid and abet terrorists but too many cheer on and at least vocally support them behind closed doors while many more look the other way and basically end up passively supporting same views.

So she was born in New Jersey but they claim she was never a US Citizen? This could be interesting

She was born and raised with freedom and managed to get radicalized and bolts wishing death to America. Upon getting to that shithole and living like they live she suddenly decides she's made a mistake and wants to return?
Yeah, that's a no for me dogg.
Yeah, that's a no for me dogg.

Ashfaq Taufique, who knows Muthana's family and is president of the Birmingham Islamic Society, said the woman could be a valuable resource for teaching young people about the dangers of online radicalization were she allowed to return to the United States.
quote:Uh, no. Try again, Taufique. And while you're at it, make me a gyro.
"Her coming back could be a very positive thing for our community and our country," Taufique said.
