But, I agree with Chris Rock's advice - "If you have to give a friend a ride - get a white friend. A white friend could be the difference between a ticket and a bullet in your arse (not a ticket)."

OP, read "Civilization: The West and the Rest" by Niall Ferguson. It explains why Europe, which was very much inferior to the East prior to 1500, blew by Asia over the following 500 years.
More specifically, it also delves into why Northern Europe did it better than Southern Europe in the New World.
Regardless of what revisionists choose to emphasize or de-emphasize, the fact is that the result of this advancement is the United States, in its economic might and in its elegantly crafted governmental system. Ironically, the very system that allows for the less informed and less preceptive among us to bemoan the evils and misdeeds of the White Man was actually devised by white men.

True story - I was accused of racism for sharing that video clip. It was out of the blue - he seemed like a regular cat - black professional, member of his local chamber of commerce - not Republican, by any stretch, but certainly not someone expected to play the race card.
