I'm not even 100% on board with St. George but that act reeks of authoritarianism.

So basically people are attacking the concept of St. George as racist?

What other defense do they have? They know they've turned the parts of the city that they do control into utter crap. Do you think they're actually going to take responsibility?

Oh, I agree. Also, the fact that they currently have to essentially lobby the entire state legislature in order form their own school district is equally as bad. Someone from Bossier City or Alexandria shouldn't be telling people in BR where they're allowed to go to school.

which will turn Baton Rouge into Jackson, MS over night.

That would require Baton Rouge to improve. That's just never going to happen.

Is it realistic or is it just a pipe dream like Calexit

Realistic? They had to illegally take signatures away last time and keep dead people on the rolls in order to keep it from going to a vote. This time they will get the signatures easily and then it's off to a vote.

Jackson MS is so much fricking worse than Baton Rouge currently.

I went to ole miss and married a Jackson MS girl and I'm from Baton Rouge. They aren't really close...yet.

I don't have confidence in her. She hired a scammer already. She stepped in it with F King Alexander.

I think she screws this up royally.

BR may not improve, but you're fricking retarded if you think Jackistan is better off than BR right now. In fact, you just shouldn't comment on the topic anymore, because you obviously have no clue what you're talking about.

She has a chance to make or break her term as mayor. She can go the route of the disgraced Ferguson/Baltimore/Berkley mayors or she can decide to go a different approach.

The way her term has started, she may be out of office by the time the aftermath of the Sterling decision is done.

What has she done so far to inspire any confidence in her judgment and/or decision making skills?

I feel some people starting these threads just want something bad to happen rather than something good.

I hope Broome fricks up as much as she can because not only is she a race baiting piece of shite, she's horrible economically for BR and and opposes doing anything to fix the schools that has made BR so terrible and is on the verge of making St. George happen.

I hope she turns into a dumpster fire.

The last mayor was noticed to have been conspicuously absent during the last protest.

That's because Kip is a business minded centrist democrat who knows better than to politicize volatile and racially tinged situations in a parish that's still 50% white.

Kip was the best mayor BR has ever had given his pretty good handling of its finances and economic development. He was like a 90s Bill Clinton for BR.

Broome's opponent was gonna push for it regardless.

Bodi White said that he's the best insurance against St. George as he would do everything he could to address the concerns of South BR to prevent St. George.

Broome isn't doing shite to do that and St. George has a very excellent chance of happening now.
