I had my bottom left side back moler removed over a week ago and it still has a low level throb. If I take ibuprofen it feels ok for a few hours. Is this considered dry socket?

I’ve never had one, but I’ve always heard that a dry socket is excruciating pain.

Yes..go back to dentist ASAP. they’ll pack it with some goop and you’ll feel much better. Do it now.

Tell your dentist you need Oxy, take them for a month become addicted to opioids and move to heroin.
Spend all your money and lose everything then check into rehab and blame the dentist for giving you oxy.

Unfortunately I’m on vacation and ibuprofen seems to do the job.

Did they stitch you up after extraction? If they did, it’s probably not dry socket.

I would say yes.The 1 time I had one it was more than throbbing, but I believe yours' should have healed after a week.

I had one the first time I had a wisdom tooth removed and believe me, Ibuprofen wasn't going to put a dent in the pain. This occurred within 3 days or so if I recall correctly.
Went back to the dentist and he cleaned the area and repacked the hole with gauze with some type medicine on it and all was well after that.
Still, get it checked out to be safe. No sense in taking a chance on some possible type infection going on.

I had a wisdom tooth removed recently and it hurt mildly for over a week
I didn’t go back to the dentist because dry socket is supposedly really painful

I’ve always heard if you have dry socket you will know you have dry socket.

A dry socket is when the extraction socket sloughs the clot and you have exposed bone with all their nerve endings. It will normally set in in 2-3 days post op and you will have a fetid (rotten) odor from the area as well as radiating pain up that side of your face. Many people say it radiates to their ear. Over the counter pain meds will only lessen the discomfort slightly, so if Ibuprofen is doing the trick you probably don't have a dry socket.

If they didn't stitch you up, they probably gave you a plastic syringe type of deal. You have to stick the tip of that thing down into the socket. I made the mistake of not getting the thing down into the socket and all kinds of food settled into the hole. Push that tip down in there and force the debris out.
Yes there are all kinds of pseudo innuendos in this post. Not intentionally but IDGAF.

Smoke some weed. It clears it almost immediately.

You’d know if it was dry socket. It’s incredibly painful and Ibuprofen alone wouldn’t take care of it.
I’d still call the dentist to make sure you don’t have infection or something setting in. It’ll be painful for a bit but just to be safe.

They’ll give you 16 Percocet 10’s for a legit dry socket.

Then it's not dry socket (or completely so).
If your whole body shudders with each heartbeat, and the jaw area in question feels like it's been pierced by a laser, THEN, it's dry socket.

I had some impacted WT extracted and After a few days IB would work briefly and then throbbing aching pain. Went to Oral Surgeon and it was dry sockets. Had to have them packed aver couple of days and everything healed fine. Not fun though
Got to be real careful first few days not to dislodge the clot.

Had my wisdom teeth out earlier this year and got a dry socket. The worst pain I've ever felt. Just excruciating. Like others have said if it is dry socket get to the doctor when you can and get it cleaned out and packed. They use clove oil to help relieve the pain and it definitely does the job.
