I mean the point is there a lot of really talented kids in select ball at young ages. The Houston area is stacked. We are a neighborhood team ans play against teams that have players from all over Houston and they have 8 or 9 kids equivalent to our best 3. It's sick.

Chose wisely. Bradynn's scholarship depends on this decision.

yea we went 2 weekends ago and played at baseball usa...facility sucks btw and then played in some cow pasture on sunday. made tons of errors in 1 game on sunday and it dropped us to 2nd bracket which we ran through with ease.

but the best teams in the area were playing in beaumont that weekend in the PG SR.

if anyone wants to see great youth baseball being played this weekend, go to the Downs complex in alexandria this weekend. USSSA is having a invite only tourney that a bunch of the best teams in Louisiana and texas are going to.

the Pg tournament in baton rouge is a super regional and will be stacked also.

the houston, austin, dallas and state of LA is stacked with young talent as is cali, florida and georgia.

People who claim that no 11 or 12 year old kid is hitting 250ft has not spent much time around a baseball field lately.

My son is in 7th grade and just turned 13, his middle school team and summer team is full of kids 5'8" to 5'10" weighing in at 130-160. None of them have hit homers this year in school ball due to playing on the 400+ high school field, but it is nothing to see the same kids hit it out of the 275-300ft fields they play on during summer ball.

We play against a 10yo that hits mult over 240 every tourney.

except that he said 9 years old lol. A kid going 240 at 9 which is the first year of kid pitch is not the norm.

Use a wooden bat that will splinter and impale someone.

Be a man.

We are in Southside, AL. you are correct though our high school field is 350ft. My bad i got a little ahead of myself, I should have checked before i posted.

None of our middle schoolers are hitting it over that but the same kids hit them over on the 300ft fields we play on during weekend ball. My son had one hit off of him this weekend on a 300ft field, the kid that hit it was a lefty and he hit it right over the top of second base.

All good. I was just thinking how big that would be. My son is a high school outfielder and 350 in center plays big. Kids have to be able to move. 400 would feel massive.

Yeah is would be, my son plays 3rd for our middle school. 90ft bases is something that has taken a while for him to get used to.

I have nothing to add except that my kid picked out a $25 Rawlings bat from Academy and hits fine with it. I guess travel ball is not in his future. His name doesn't end with ten, ton, leigh, len, or tyn so he was probably out anyway.

IMHO, wood is better for cracking heads. Aluminum transfers the impact energy to your arm. OUCH

I am not claiming it is not possible, just claiming most is just bullshite.

11U kids with the ability to clear 250ft is probably around 5% of the youth population and the timing of the person telling the story to have actually witnessed it is probably sub 1%.

With that being said, I have seen 12U clear 235.

Just so we are clear

5'10" at 14 is still 95 percentile.

I’m gonna assume this a serious question…….it doesn’t matter. It really doesn’t. Confidence at the plate does. Being able to put the barrel on the ball does. At 8 and 11 hitting it square with bat speed is what matters. If it were me, I’d get the bat that my kid “believes” he can rake with.
