Fair enough, now what generation voted for in droves the guy who almost doubled America's debt in 4 short years, and then proceeded to re-elect him in droves, as if to underscore how much they approved of the fiscal irresponsibility?
We were going through the Cold War in the 80's and as much as I'm sure it seems foreign to many younger people today, it really was a very big concern for people living in the 80's.
I'm not justifying anything, but I do think we have all been very ignorant, and misguided by personal gain and what we thought we could get out of it personally. Nobody really cared as long as the train was chugging along. Only when it stopped and government kept going full steam ahead did I think most take notice.
That being said, I don't put the entire blame on any generation, and if anything I blame the boomers and my own generation for raising a bunch of spoiled rotten detached children who thought they were entitled to something really special because mommy and daddy kept telling them how fricking special they were their entire life. Our wealth and good times spawned this.

horseshite. Don't try to blame your problems and shortcomings on one generation. Every generation has issues, not just the boomers. Which generation will step up and save the country? How about the "entitled" generation that gave us Columbine, Aurora, Sandy Hook, Virginia Tech, Tucson and the rest.
My boomer generation is as fricked up as those that came before us and those after us, just don't blame us because it's the easy to do. Boo hoo and shame on us. Quit whining and do something.

There are WAY more Boomers in this country than Generation X and Y. And it's for the most part pretty liberal. Don't act like it was just the younger people that elected him.

gen x isn't that large. the splits down the line aren't really that varied, either
and our debt exploded b/c our economy tanked and boomers ignored entitlements, which are exploding as they retire and further expand them
i'm no fan of Obama, but to blame him alone is to be ignorant, especially since Bush had 8 years and did nothing but put us further in debt and expand entitlement programs

No not at all. But the grads I met need to have a reality check and take what is offered just to get started. Sounds like you're mature enough to get this idea.
I'm 45 and I was fed the same BS as you- a degree was key to a better life. So far not one employer has inquired a out my LSU degree. They wanted experience. I can empathize with where you guys are. Believe me.

I want to be a teacher and earn 38k per yr. No degree needed(yet should) 100k in student loans. Not realizing I have to live in section 8 housing to pay off my student loans then bitch that I don't make enough money.
The early education system is the failure. There should be chart upon chart displaying salaries for said fields. But no, they just want you to enroll and get financial aid. Dig your hole.
Be very field specific in your studies. Otherwise you are just pissing money away.
