We were going through the Cold War in the 80's and as much as I'm sure it seems foreign to many younger people today, it really was a very big concern for people living in the 80's.

Then how do you justify the 90s, which was probably the most peaceful decade in recorded human history?

I'm 45 and I was fed the same BS as you- a degree was key to a better life. So far not one employer has inquired a out my LSU degree. They wanted experience. I can empathize with where you guys are. Believe me.

Oh for sure. Never been asked about my degree other than if I have one.

The current grads are in a tough spot. Boomers are staying in their jobs longer bc their retirements went to shite, add in the largest economic decline since the depression, and insanely high college expenses compared to even 15 years ago.

Hard to take a $12-15/hr job when you've got $700/mo in student loans.

i'm not laughing my arse off because it typical that you can't comprehend much nor debate an issue without cussing, name calling, etc. which shows lack of education. Like i said earlier, I've given you more credit than you deserve. I really don't think you are smart enough to realize it even though i'm telling you this! its pitifully really

Bush was a tard and there is no excuse for him either, but Obama was supposed to represent the hope and change from that, and yet all it really was was a change in just how selfish we can be by another generation. All in all, the song remains the same, or perhaps worse still by a group of voters who were rarely told the word NO because of the wealth we enjoyed from irresponsible behavior of their parents. That is why it seems to wax worse at every generation IMO, because I think it really does.

The end of the Cold War, downsizing the military, and ending up with a surplus as a result of not having to fight the Cold War.

the middle east is always in constant chaos, plus there were wars in the middle east in the 90s, including another iraqi invasion

occupation doesn't mean a higher death toll...those balkan civil wars were violent as frick

How about the "entitled" generation that gave us Columbine, Aurora, Sandy Hook, Virginia Tech, Tucson and the rest.

Yeah, lets devolve this to school shootings, something that literally all of society reviles. I guess it's appropriate for me to call your generation a bunch of fricked up serial killers when you have the likes of Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, and Jeffrey Dahmer. Guess that's an appropriate and fair comparison.

My boomer generation is as fricked up as those that came before us and those after us, just don't blame us because it's the easy to do. Boo hoo and shame on us. Quit whining and do something.

i agree. i just had to point out that older folks are guilty of the very same thing they are accusing us of (electing someone twice who significantly raised the deficit and debt) .

short memories

I know you and your generation don't want to hear this. But this is the truth.

When you graduate college, the only thing you know is what some prof has told you or what you have read in a book. You know nothing, you think your degree declares you know everything. Yet you still know nothing. It's not a slight on what you have spent 4 years learning, but you still no not a damn thing in the industry you are trying to forge into. Books don't teach you real life situations, they just try to give you examples to learn by.
