Is there a such thing as a funny, anonymous prank gift to a friend?

On occasion, some of my friends who have moved around and have more local friends than family, like to send a random gift to each other and keep it anonymous. It’s usually somewhat useable/has practicality, but sometimes it’s just for laughs.

It could be some specialty coffee with a unique name, bottle of whiskey/liquor, a kids beach pail/bucket of 10mm sockets, 100k qtips, a potato, $25 on a 30 year savings bond or similar. It can get silly, but it’s actually fun to get a random package from a friend.

It usually comes up in conversation at some point, and it’s fun to hear the theories. Sometimes we figure it out, sometimes you never know. Luckily, none of these gifts include crabs, herpes, any other STD, or a kid, for me.

Anyone participated in similar shenanigans or is this too low-brow?

This is a Christmas card that starts playing music when you open it and doesn’t stop for at least 3 hours. If you try to rip it apart, glitter goes everywhere.

I have seen lots of these types of things in regards to leaving random stuff in friends yards. Such as the flamingo thing if you have ever seen that. Garden nomes. The good old school send 10 pizzas.

Group of college buddies has one going now, several years running. One of the guys went balls deep in politics and is anti-MAGA to the point it consumes his life. Dude is easily set into a rage over trump. Talks and argued politics with everyone in his life, especially conservatives, and none of us are MAGA, so he doesn’t suspect us.

Around 2019, one of our buddies started anonymously mailing him trump election stuff. Bumper stickers, hats, shirts, commemorative items, political donations in his name. He just sent him this for Christmas.

Guy has no idea who is doing it and it gets in his head.

A nice book is a great gift. I bought this one for a office Christmas party.
