Florida Parishes, it is named this because for a brief period about 3 months it was its own independent country "The Republic of West Florida"
I'm assuming that was around the time that criminals and less desirables started to settle in that area. No formal control for a time and the officials didn't care what went on there for a long time.

Could you imagine if the West Parishes were their own state, separate from the rest of Louisiana?
Edit: it once was separate

Florida Parishes?
I mean, BR, Covington and Slidell would probably love to be on their own.
Why the sudden interest in all things LA from a MO guy? I saw you asking over on The Rant about jersey colors...you writing a book?

There is one little piece of heaven that sits on the pearl river called lees creek. It’s south of Bogalusa and includes pooles bluff. I’ve had quite a few beers on those banks.

To my knowledge this never happened. Yes every area will have their criminals. But its not like the area was Australia

I know I've read stuff about it kind of being a lawless area of sorts and I know for a fact that a bunch of wild arse folks settled that area early on. Tickfaw was in particular pretty bad at one time.

Cancer ally is along the Mississippi River between Baton Rouge and New Orleans. It’s exactly the area “between the Mississippi River and Pearl River.”
It’s the River Parish’s though and not the West Florida Parishes. But OP just gave a vague

It has been known as The Planes Of Lamentation.

I thought the misspelling appropriate, as I hail from Louisiana.

Most definitely. The Bogalusa area goes to Mississippi, and we’ll be fine.
