Two Lowes employees fished my iPhone from a 12 foot storm gutter with a grate on top. I’ll be forever grateful.

Whew! I thought I was the only individual dumb enough to lose my keys in the drain. They use the magnet-on-a-string method?

City Workers laugh at how hard Lowe's workers work.

I just witnessed this, 7-8 guys with yellow vests standing in a circle as one digs a hole.

They make like $9.50/hour. What do you expect?

I put in some years for Lowe's & still know people that work there. I can assure you there are zero employees making $9.50/hour. Starting pay is $14/hour and specialists are making something like $20/hour. I remember thinking I found a gold mine job, getting hired at $10/hour there like 15 years ago.

And most of them still don't know that much about doing an actual job. They know about the products for sale and how to special order.
If you get upset with Lowe's or HD because you can't get specific questions answered, maybe you're not cut out for the project you're working on. The stores advertise that their employees know something, but you need to go in there with the assumption that they can help you load stuff and that's about it. It sounds like many of you have your expectations set way to high.

That's the American workforce for you. Many are borderline unemployable. The bar is set so low to be a good employee and it is unattainable for them

I rarely get any assistance from them. have to go 10 more miles to a Home Depot, but that is worth the drive

Easy question, I'll take a stab at it. Every federal government employee in the country.

Just wait until the OP finds out about home depot

The experience in my neck of the woods is much different. I've sworn off Lowes. Maybe the Home Depot folks don't know more...but they don't act like they hate you for asking for help.

A good solution for both these stores is to hire older men that are retired and just need some extra money for retirement. Pay them the same as they would the local hood rats. They may be slower, but there's a good chance they know the answer. Keep a few young ones to do the heavy lifting.
