Its called escapism. I'm sure there are several things you do to help you escape from the world for a second whether it is going hunting, drinking, etc.
So people want to dress up and hang around others that share a similar interest. They aren't affecting your life in any way unless you continue to search it out yourself and then go and complain about it on the internet. If that is the case then it is you that has the issues not them.

Well said. What’s the point of criticizing someone else’s hobby? They are free to be themselves.

I have a cousin that is a big cosplayer and is constantly attending cons. He has a vague resemblance to Hugh Jackman and typically goes as various iterations of Wolverine.

I don’t get the appeal, but it’s what he enjoys and he has met a lot of interesting people and friends along the way, so I’m happy that he is doing something he loves.

So who is going to determine this criteria?

What if I think spending thousands of dollars to spend a 7-8 Saturdays in the fall cheering on 18-21 year olds as weird and unhealthy.

On the other hand, we used to shame weird shite a lot more than we do now, and we are worse off for it. What is the deal with grown frickin adults dressing up as comic book characters and attending conventions dedicated to this behavior? The geek culture is OOFC. Time to bring back the wedgie in full force.

Why would you want to shame anyone for doing what they enjoy and having fun? Why are we worse for off for it?

Exactly. I have a friend that loves dressing up as superheros. The only time he does it though is to volunteer with others that go and do it at a children's hospital.

I would never cosplay, but I am not one to say others shouldn't.

I love going to cons, but I'll never do cosplay. I personally think it's weird but how is is different from people that dress up in costumes and go to sporting events?

Just let people be happy, we live in a miserable fricking world, and people are just searching for their little piece of happiness during our brief time here.

Bullies -Trevor Moore

A little shame goes a long way to filtering out the absolutely shite cultural trends.

Your point is well taken, but I might lean to the Disney-obsessed childless adults as a more glaring sign of so many Americans' failure to fully embrace adulting.

I dont cosplay except at Halloween because my kids like seeing daddy dress up. I do find it fun to go to conventions and people watch though. Its fascinating and kinda strange that you seem so upset by it.

Do adult sports fans also upset you as well?

Look guys, we have a cyber bully here.

Comic-con is awesome. Cosplay chicks are hot and the ones that aren't are cool af, they game, are fun and have great personalities. I don't cosplay but but I will go to comic-con for the ladies.

I agree that the hot instagram ones are just looking for private snap chat subscribers preying on desperate incels or hustling for a real modeling or acting gig. But the regular cosplay women are way more awesome than normies.
