On the contrary... once you truly realize you're going to die (I was 14 or 15) it never goes away.

1. you think of your 401k in terms of how long it lasts.
2. you think whether to start socialist security.
3. at some point you do the app in which you confess if you drank or smoked.
whether you walk or jog.
all those markers add up.
your life expectancy for your demographic.
then you look at your will and bring it up to date.
all estate planning.
real then.

My advice: stop
Going down that rabbit hole is futile and problematic
Each day is a gift. Don’t squander it on bullshite.

You will do it everyday after you get married and have kids.

It appears you are thinking about it.

When your parents and Mother/Father in law pass. Then you realize how short life is. My stepom passed 2 years ago. My father passed in the fall and my father in law passed one year ago. I met him the first time on his 50th birthday. Seems like yesterday. Fifty is only a year away for me...

It was sobering for me when I realized that I was older than when my parents had me and again when I realized that I was the same age as when my father passed.
They seemed so old at the time.
They seemed so old at the time.

Not really counting. I can see the finish line, but can’t judge the distance :-)

I'm almost 37. I'm well over halfway if I keep working as much as I have been.

Nah, I thought it would be like that, but as you get older you live more day to day and not worried so much about the future.

I’m guilty of this. Started around 35. Think it’s just time “speeding up” and you becoming more aware. I’m 41 now and trying not to do it as much. Especially with 3 kids that are still 9 or under. Just gotta take care of yourself and plan to be here a long time.

I am 68. I still take time to stop and smell the roses but I don’t linger.

My clock is set on retirement . Which I hope will be 2023. After that I’ll reset it for move to mountain cabin. Then I’ll reset it to hike to a new waterfall every week. Then I’ll reset it to accepting whatever comes my way in solitude away from the crowds. Tic Toc……

I beg to differ. I'm 31. Already had cancer twice, a stem cell transplant, and most likely a double lung transplant in the next couple of years. Average life after lung transplant is 10-15 years conservatively. It's hard not to take normal health for granted. I know I took it for granted prior to my illnesses.
