Is there a bigger scam than veterinarians?

They take advantage of your affection for your pets to gouge the frick out of you. I only take my dog to the vet now when I have to kennel her and she needs vaccines. I only get the bare minimum vaccines required by the kennel.
The biggest scare is that heart worm garbage. I've had my dog for over 13 years. She has taken heart worm prevention for a total of maybe 2 years and never once had it, but the vet tries to scare me half to death that my dog will get heart worms tomorrow without it.
At nearly 14 years old, if there is something obviously wrong with my dog, I'm just going to put her down rather than pay for my vet's kids to go to college.

This was my first and will be my last pet. I have had her for 13 years and still don't get the allure of owning a pet.

I dropped four grand on a miniature dachshund a few years ago but it didn't help.

Our Vet is an older guy, who basically is giving back to community. He charges enough to keep lights and bills paid.
I can get heart worm pills, a check up, and her pee pills(from being spaded too young) for under $70.
If we have an issue to get looked at, he charges $30

That's cool. I just watched my step mom growing up spend a fortune on a 2 year old dog with hip/heart conditions, and a cat that literally had nine lives. No way I would ever do that

The IRS is a bigger scam but I do agree that vet services are terribly overpriced. You can give buy and give your dog most vaccines for a few bucks.

Frick yourself. My grandpa's black lab didn't take his heart worm medicine for two months, got heart worms and died.
