the waze users were rerouted and ended up getting there about 30 minutes after the Google Maps users

Ok. Let me know how that works out for you when an accident ahead shuts the interstate down.

If you think Google gets the update just as fast as Waze you're smoking crack. Even a 5 minute delay can mean the difference in getting stuck for an hour in traffic or a quick parallel reroute on highway to avoid the problem altogether.

Ignore Waze rerouting at your own peril

In any event,

Google combines this with historical traffic data it's built up over the years, information from Waze, a crowd-sourced traffic app the company bought in 2013, and incident reports from local departments of transportation, to provide the fastest route from point A to point B.

So THATS why people are always reporting cars on the side of the road!

I use Google Maps...which uses Waze. I don't like Waze's graphics.

Can someone tell me why I should use Waze over Google Maps. I'm used to Google Maps' layout and if it incorporates all of Waze's data, what is my incentive to download and use another Mapping app?

This has happened numerous times for me and google is always updated quickly and rerouted me well. Google owns the same technology Waze does plus some. It's not like it has to download from the waze servers then send to google through a dial-up connection. No need to get butthurt bc I prefer Google and Amazon over Waze and Ebay

i use google as well. i usually check the traffic before leaving and see if i need to take an alternate route. i dont navigate once im in the car. i don't have any issue with waze but it just looks outdated.

if i'm on a long trip i usually will just pull it up every hour or so. i don't like to leave navigation running due to battery and data usage.

The traffic function on google works great. It doesn't tell you where cops are but i don't speed.

I also edit the Waze map to correct user reported errors. The real time reporting of errors and feedback from a person in the area of the error is one advantage of Waze over Google maps. I use both and the error collectrion on Waze is as soon as an editor can fix it. Corrections have taken up to ten days on Google maps.

Why? You could have easily edited out the attack. You do that a lot BTW.
