To me that figure for how much land the Queen owns doesn't even seem to make sense. 1/6 of the world's land? Huge stretches of that can't be usable, maintainable property as we understand it. I'm sure she's wealthy as frick but come on.
Oh its usable. You wouldnt own the side of a cliff unless there is gold or diamonds in it. Its pretty sad that people are cramped in cities because they cant afford 5 acres and this count owns a 6th of the world. She definitely didnt pay for it.

Apparently the Queen of England owns all of Canada, Australia, Papua New Guinea, and New Zealand. The deed to the land is valid due to the countries being under former British control and even as independent countries today they operate under English common law, meaning you can't outright own the land you just purchase "land tenure" from the Crown
Always wondered about this. Does she actually have any rights to all this land or is it just an honorary title?

Really?! Now that I did not know. So they still answer to Britain. Wait does the Queen own that land on paper only?
No, they don't answer to Britian. In that regard the Commonwelth nations are totally independent from Great Britian. Their only tie to Britian is through the monarch while the British monarch's actual "rule" over the Commonwelth nations is for all intents and purposes purely ceremonial.

If you're a catholic, and you go to church read the weekly bulletin and see how much they bring in each week.
St. Joseph in Thibodaux publishes every week what they pull in. I remember seeing it a few years ago when i was there for a wedding.
went online to look at the weekly bulletins. here's what they pulled in recently for their weekly tithes.
3/20 weekend $17,249
3/13 weekend $14,154
3/6 weekend $12,722
3 week total of $44,125
That church probably pulls in close to a million dollars a year. The Easter and Christmas haul is closer to $50k. That's 1 church, in podunk Thibodaux, which has 5 other catholic churches within 10 miles of it and a bunch more other churches of other denominations.

Gotta pay for that bread , wine , electricity, and the priests expenses somewhow. The rest is used for alibis to cover the pedophilia that runs rampant in the congregations.

Yeah I really don't think any of that is accurate. You know you can Google stuff for almost next to nothing, is practically free.

all the blood would leave your face/head, looking pasty like a ghost if you knew just how much...

You don't know what what the Taj Mahal is do you?

The Vatican vaults are priceless. I don't think anyone, outside a small few, know what is down there. If you sold everything you'd probably go over a billion.
Posted on 3/31/16 at 5:31 pm to jmarto1
They have singular paintings alone that would sell for at least several hundred million at auction. Over a billion is way on the underestimated side of things.

Pretty sure it's where all the Hindus have to face to pray every hour cause Shiva went to heaven there? Or it might be where they hide their Jew gold, it's been a minute since my theocracy class at SUNO.

I think it's really that rich. It's not all liquid though. They own some of the most priceless works of art, real estate etc on the planet.
This. Let's say the Vatican wants to start selling it's "priceless" artwork. The market would be so extremely limited that it would be impossible to liquidate it. Also consider that some of their most priceless art are in the form of frescos and mosaics that are actually in/on walls of churches throughout the world. Very hard to move that kind of stuff.

But not impossible, which means it would be very expensive. And when something is super expensive and rare, there's always an a-hole with enough money to pay for it. Which is kinda the point, I think.

That 6.6 billion includes Canada and Australia.

Except be the biggest charity on planet earth.
Also, do you have a college degree? Ever been to a hospital? If so, you can thank the church.
