Yes.

we bought ours 2008
They're much roomier now. I'm 6'4" and have no problems at all, even riding in the back seat. (2013 model)

I like the Outback. I even like the Crosstrek
I just bought a new Subaru Crosstrek last week and love it. I live in NC and Subarus are extremely popular especially in the mountains where probably 1 out of every 4-5 cars is a Subaru. I've heard nothing but good reviews of them especially in the winter months.

One of the best autos I have owned was a Subaru.

I might get a Crosstrek then. That or an Outback. I have always liked them. I have always like the Legacy but I think I need something a little more practical.

I rented a Forester in Seattle not long ago and loved it. Probably will be my next vehicle.

Why are the Forresters more expensive than the Outbacks now? I thought they were supposed to be cheaper?

Depends on the options. I don't need curb feelers or a flux capacitor, so I ain't looking for a 35k vehicle. Outbacks are a little higher if comparably equipped.

We looked at the Crosstrek, forester and the outback and decided to go with the Crosstrek. Main reasons were we really didn't want to spend as much as an outback which we really like as well. The forester was nice and has more room than a Crosstrek but we just don't like the styling as much. Plus I found a loaded new-used Crosstrek limited with only 12k miles that has nav, moonroof, leather, Sirius for under $25k without my trade in included. Too hard to pass up.
My wife has a 4Runner so we don't need another larger vehicle. I drive a lot for work and the Crosstrek already gets at least 60 more miles to the tank than my Ford Escape did.

I too just bought a Crosstrek. I bought it because:
- it's less expensive than the Outback
- it's less lesbo looking than the Outback
On the con side I think the Outback has more storage room, but it's a commuter car for me. I am averaging 29 MPG in the DC metro area.

I'm seeing top of the line models for Outback at like 31k at my dealership and the Forresters are for some reason about the same with less features tho. Really odd.

I think with lots of things you can tell how good something is by what people use in the most extreme conditions. If you want to see what the best outboard engine is for your boat, don't take the slightest glance at the truck nut yo-yo launching his boat at False River. Take a look at the dudes going on 40 mile treks offshore. Those guys know what's the most reliable.
With that in mind, when I lived in Montana every damn person under the sun had a Subaru. It was incredible. I'm sure at some point it became an Apply popularity thing, but it was still something 9 out of 10 people had. I was gonna pick one up (assuming it was super cheap as well as they're borderline station wagons), but then I saw the price tags. I'm about as cheap as a person can be when it comes to cars so that was not for me.
If the price doesn't bother you and you truly are concerned with something that can handle varied, dangerous driving conditions, I think it's got to be as good as anything out there based off my experiences.

I am keeping an eye out in the used market. An Outback may stretch my budget a little too far, but I might be able to make it work.

Forrester is a "crossover" in the eyes of most buyers. There's a premium for it even though the more station wagon Outback is bigger. Crosstrek, Forrester, and Outback are all very good vehicles.
The Tribeca (now discontinued) was kind of a dud though.

Yeah it was extremely hard to find though especially with nav. Nav and Sirius were essentials. This was the only one like this new or used available now from 7 different dealerships up to 2hrs + away so I jumped on it.

That's extremely odd. We looked at Outbacks and Foresters in December and comparing the same line the Outback was about $2000 more. And the Outback does have more features and has a smoother interior appearance.
