I'm still waiting to see Mr Pogey's body, I bet it's full of good decisions.

I would trust this guy

Before I trusted this guy

Anyone that eats themselves into that condition clearly lacks intellect and critical thinking skills. If my surgeon was fat as frick, I would ask for a new surgeon.

Luckily, no one in my personal or professional life thinks I'm trashy because I have tattoos. Unfortunately you cant do anything about your stupidity.

I see it this way.

If you have a visible tattoo, you know that it will be seen, and you are okay with that.

Presumably, then, you are using your own skin to put forth an image or idea that you place more value on than your own skin.

If that image is something I agree with, or an indication of something I respect, then chances are I'll have a positive image of you. Say, an American flag, or Olympic rings, or a cross, or a Marine globe and anchor.

If the tattoo is some type of sprawling artwork, or something morbid, or something ridiculous like Chinese writing, or "tribal," or, really, writing of any kind... I'm probably going to think you have, at minimum... bad taste. But most likely I'll think you're dumb or attention-starved, to replace the visual appeal of your skin with something that doesn't enhance it in any way.

I certainly don't agree, but that's no dumber than saying all people with tats lack the same skills.

I wonder how many in this thread ranting about the tats with such vigor are also out of shape themselves? of course they'll all respond stating they're in great health, obviously.

Yea, you gotta wonder if it's just not well traveled people who live around a bunch of lower class types of people with tats, so they think that's the only type of people with tats.

Most of the people that have tattoos where I live are pretty trashy, and no one in my group of friends (that I hang out with on a weekly basis) have tattoos. I do know some people with tattoos that aren't trashy, but there are a very limited group of people from my observations.

Basically, if you are trashy chances are you have tattoos, but having tattoos doesn't necessarily make you trashy.

I jumped in at the end of the thread, so I hope that was taken out of context. The alternative is fricking stupid.

And I agree. Sweeping generalizations are stupid, in both cases.

I'd say the majority of people I've worked with(that I know for sure obviously) have tats, and the same with friends and family. Not like 95% or whatever, but a whole hell of a lot of them.

I am an expert at keeping away any actual trashy(by the way they live their lives, not looks) people away from me, and I've seen no discernible difference in the friends/family with tats that share some sort of characteristic(other than having tats) compared to the ones without.

It was kind of the point. If tattoos are bad decisions, then being fat must be a bad decision too. In fact, being fat is probably a lot worse.

Can't say for sure the poster's motives, but it could have been a sarcastic take or play on the poster saying the same about one with tats.

While the generalization is off base, I do think it is 100% fair to say the average person with tats is no more mentally unstable or lacking in judgment than the average fat person.

I don't think there is any correlation between tattoos and intelligence, with the exception of face or neck tats.

As a stereotype? Sure, but there will always be exceptions. I think on the whole you're correct though.

Pretty much, yea.

Like everything else, it's not a 100% deal, but yea, the average person with a face tat is probably not as intelligent or doesn't make decisions as well as the average person without one.
