Just FYI the union president brings in nearly $1mil in salary from the union,,,his son is the exec VP and brings in more than $600k

Which is really not that much considering he reps 85k workers.

This is the leftist argument that xyz ceo makes millions so the company should pay their tens of thousands of employees more.

Remember the NFL used replacements. Same thing here if they don’t want the job someone else does.

Yeah frick the people, I am with AI and machines. Sure there is a 100% chance it will become self aware and enslave or kill us all. (Watch the freaking whyfiles episode on AI if you doubt this) but I am old and will be dead by then anyway.

I just want cheap stuff now frick everyone else.

(Being about 50% sarcastic 50% honest)

What public needs to know on Longshoremen strike.

1) average worker makes 6 figures

2) they want a 77% pay hike . They actually turned down a 50% pay hike

3) they want a written guarantee that port owners won't automate anything like most foreign ports have done or are doing

I can’t imagine following blindly a man who gets paid $900k per year and pretending he is for the “little man.” Weak arse men follow unions.

Hilarious, them being so hung up on being phased out will result in them being phased out faster. Bring on the terminators to keep the docks moving my cheap Chinese plastic crap into this country.

I have buddy that owns local port, he is a great guy. He is wealthy but very very generous. Like the kind of guy that decides to give a local high school team a better locker than any college has, then decides Girls should have the same thing, then does one for football etc without even being ask. 500 to 750k easy. Would not let them name shite for him. Everyone loves him. He and his workers could resolve this in an afternoon if they were allowed too, but that’s not allowed.

That said if you are not worried about being replaced by AI or a machine you aren’t paying attention.

Very much against. I am against ALL unions. They had their place 100 years ago... today? Don't need em. They drive up the cost of everything and hold everybody hostage to their every whim. Fire them all.

As for the workers, they had a voice. They voted against the 50% raise over 6 years with no guarantees against automation. So it is really on them... so frick them.

Yep. frick em all, I hope it bites them in the arse

Not true at all. Get competition that's not union. Let union members lose jobs.

That's free market.

What are they asking for? I’ve heard they’re wanting something like a 75% pay raise. Is that true?

They want paperwork in place with guarantees that they won’t be replaced by machines.

Lolololol frick them

Against.

They already make a lot of money, much more than the average worker. However, this strike isn't about money despite them asking for more. It is about preventing automation from taking their jobs. I am all for technological advancement to replace humans in a more efficiency and cheaper way.
