Oh the horror.

How about officers busted by the FBI for protecting drug dealers and threatening to hurt citizens in order to keep them quiet? How about officers committing bribery/extortion? Hmmmm what else. Oh, rape, assault, making false arrests, etc.

One woman here saw a murder and didn't call the police because she said she always called after a shooting and they never showed up.

I'm living in fricking Baghdad or Somalia over here.

NOPD is so under staffed it's silly. There is no way with the little amount of officers they have that they could possibly do the job effectively

They had a recruiting campaign of billboards and TV commercials

I said it in the other thread, but don't mind repeating it. Fire two incompetent cops making $30k/yr, and hire a well qualified professional for $50k/yr. In the case of NOPD, it would be firing 300 incompetent cops and hiring 150 new ones. Use the extra money to line some union pockets or whatever else doesn't benefit the city at all

BRPD has to be pretty bad as well. The officers had some kind of backdoor deals worked out with red cross and fema in the days after katrina.

As much as people like to hate on BRPD, they are actually a really good department. The EBR Sheriff's Department, State Troopers, and even LSU Police are also pretty solid. I don't like cops, but the BR area is doing pretty good in regards to quality of departments serving the city.

It all depends on how you define "worst".

If "worst" is police brutality, over-aggressive, etc.- then the answer is no.

If "worst" is being unresponsive, corrupt, and in general not giving a shite or doing their actual job, then yes.

The NOPD really needs to be disbanded. They are so understaffed and overwhelmed, its ridiculous. If it is possible, the State Police should take over policing New Orleans. Or at least partner one State Trooper with an NOPD officer to supplement manpower. Landrieu has been a horrible disappointment his second term and the city has moved backwards. Crime is up. Infrastructure is a joke. He has a severe case of misdirected priorities in my honest opinion. He has been watching and listening to too many SJWs.

Clayton County or Dekalb County for Atlanta are the two worst I know of.

New Orleans is the worst of everything. People from NOLA get so defensive over it because they know it's true. You tell me Miami sucks, I don't care. You tell me Naples sucks, I don't care. You tell a Nola resident their city sucks and they'll literally get into an argument over it. It's the Johannesburg of the USA. Beautiful place but a total crime ridden shithole

As far as major city departments go, yes, and it's not close.

Try Dallas. It's a real mess. DA is on leave for who knows what.

The cops they have working for them are borderline retarded and almost all of them don't do their jobs. Maybe starting with that problem could help. They can't be overwhelmed because they don't really do anything in the first place.

I'm also sure people wouldn't mind firing a bunch and paying for quality. People were begging LSP to police the city because NOPD is incompetent. Is there any type of a plan in place or in the works to combat crime? Nope

The Governor's office needs to put the military back on the streets to police this city for six months. Put the criminals in a military brig its the only way to reestablish order in this city.

Earlier this year my SIL's car was stolen from her boyfriends house in a nice area in the garden district. NOPD recovered it 2 days later, job well done. Except they didn't do a good job of searching the vehicle. My wife was driving it home from the scene of the crime and found a large pill bottle filled with crack. Fast forward 6 months and the three of us were driving to Florida and were pulled over on I-10 when we crossed the ms border and all three of us were handcuffed at gunpoint b/c the morons at NOPD never took it out of the stolen vehicle database. So to answer your question, yes one of the most incompetent organizations I've ever had to deal with. They're good a crowd control and that's about it.
